Big ideas. Real-world impact.
SYOS is building the next generation of uncrewed systems across air, land, sea and subsurface.
We’re growing our presence across the UK and Europe and are looking for a Business Development Manager to help us identify opportunities, build relationships and turn them into real programmes.
This is a hands-on commercial role for someone who understands defense and government customers, enjoys getting in front of customers, and knows how to turn a conversation into an opportunity - and an opportunity into a contract.
What You'll Do
You’ll own business development across your region, working closely with our commercial and technical teams to build a strong pipeline and grow SYOS’ presence across the market.
You’ll
- Develop and execute business development strategies across the UK and European defence and government markets.
- Identify, qualify and pursue new opportunities across our portfolio of UAV, USV and UGV systems.
- Build trusted relationships with defence, government and industry stakeholders.
- Engage directly with customers to understand their operational requirements and position SYOS solutions accordingly.
- Lead customer meetings, product demonstrations and presentations, bringing our technology to life and showing customers what it can do.
- Identify relevant tenders, procurements and upcoming programmes and work with the Commercial Director and wider team to develop bids.
- Manage opportunities through the sales cycle, from initial engagement through to contract award.
- Build and maintain a healthy, realistic sales pipeline and provide accurate forecasting and reporting.
- Keep close to market developments, competitor activity, procurement processes and emerging customer requirements.
- Feed customer insight back into the business, working closely with engineering, product, programme and leadership teams.
- Represent SYOS at relevant industry events, exhibitions and customer engagements across the region.
- Help build SYOS’ reputation and relationships across the defence and uncrewed systems ecosystem.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
