The role
We are looking for a Business Development Manager to support our growth plans.
You’ll help develop our relationship-led approach within our professional services network. Around half of your time will be dedicated to supporting our Business Recovery & Insolvency department, where referral relationships are vital. You’ll focus on developing and nurturing relationships with new and existing referral partners to support our growing Business Recovery & Insolvency team. This could be with professional contacts such as accountants, solicitors, lenders, turnaround specialists, and other referral partners who can introduce insolvency and restructuring opportunities.
The remainder of the role will support the Business Development Director, with varied business development activity throughout the South West, helping partners and directors across the firm generate new business opportunities.
The role is full time and can be based in either our Taunton or Bristol offices.
What you’ll be doing
- Build and maintain strong relationships with referral partners to generate a consistent flow of introductions
- Work closely with the Business Recovery & Insolvency team to build relationships with referral sources
- Work with the Business Development Director to identify target sectors and referral sources
- Provide regular updates on progress against business development targets and referral partner engagement
- Ensure business development activity is aligned with our wider marketing and profile-raising initiatives
- Track and report on business development activity, pipeline, and conversion rates using our CRM system
- Attend networking events and industry functions to identify new opportunities and promote Albert Goodman's services

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
