Job Title: Business Development Manager
Location: Sheffield / Hybrid (max 2 days at home, subject to client visit requirements)
Salary: £30K to £45K, with up to 15% yearly bonus and additional £5k car allowance (salary based on experience).
Contract Type: Full Time Permanent
Reports to: Senior Business Development Manager
Job Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Business Development Manager to join Innovare Group to support our growing group of consultancies, which specialise in:
- Bid Services and Training
- Access to funding
- Specialist communications
- Project management
- Market Analysis
- Innovation Support
We work across a number of different sectors including utilities, Transport, Energy Transition, Defence, Health, and Critical Raw Materials.
You will be responsible for identifying new business leads and opportunities through outreach, networking and prospecting, and working with the Senior Business Development Manager to manage client relationships and drive revenue growth through strategic partnerships.
This is an important role that bridges commercial strategy with operational delivery, supporting Innovare Group’s continued expansion across a public and private sector, and international client base. A real focus for this role is supporting the long-term success of our Work Winning function as well as the growth of our other services.
Market Infra was established in 2016 and specialises in bid writing, bid management, and PMO services across the infrastructure sector. Beta Technology was established in 1984 and became part of Innovare Group in 2024. Beta has an international client base in Europe, Brazil and Trinidad, works with companies, universities and the public sector. With a team of consultants and over 100 associates, Innovare Group is based in Sheffield.

Key Responsibilities:
- Identify and qualify new business opportunities within infrastructure, research and innovation sectors.
- Conduct outreach, networking and prospecting
- Support market analysis and research activity projects for the company
- Set and achieve quarterly and annual business development targets
- Research industry trends, stakeholder changes, and procurement pipelines to anticipate future opportunities.
- Maintain a pipeline of opportunities and provide regular updates and forecasts to leadership.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers, procurement teams, and partners.
- Support the development of account management strategies for key clients and prospects.
- Attend relevant events, conferences, and networking forums to promote the business.
- Drive the full sales cycle from lead generation through to proposal development, negotiation, and contract closure.
- Develop tailored value propositions aligned to client needs in areas such as work winning, funding, research impact, project management and commercialisation of research.
- Contribute to public sector procurement opportunities, including scanning for tender opportunities and preparing responses.
- Prepare and deliver presentations and capability statements.
- Collaborate with internal delivery teams to ensure seamless handover of new opportunities.
- Provide input into resourcing strategies and pricing models for proposals.

Required Skills & Experience:
- Strong communication, influencing, and presentation skills.
- Understanding of B2B sales processes, UK procurement frameworks.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Commercially astute with good analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- An interest in, and willingness to learn about, the infrastructure, research and innovation sectors.
Desirable:
- Educated to a degree level
- Proven track record in business development, sales, or client-facing roles, ideally within professional services or consultancy.
- Knowledge and/or experience of work winning services would be an advantage.
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office suite
- Knowledge of UK and European innovation funding would be an advantage.
