Business Development Manager
West Northamptonshire – Hybrid / Field Based
Territory: Birmingham to the South of England
Salary: Up to £55,000 + Company Car + Commission (OTE £70,000 Year One)
About the Company
Our client is an established international manufacturer and solutions provider supporting customers across manufacturing, logistics, distribution, retail and wider commercial markets.
They provide a combination of specialist equipment, consumable products and solutions designed to improve operational efficiency and productivity.
As part of continued UK growth, they are looking for a proactive Business Development Manager to develop new customers from Birmingham southwards.
Industry experience is not essential. The priority is finding a genuine new-business hunter with the attitude and discipline to learn a new market and build a territory.
The Role
This is a predominantly new-business position where you will be expected to create opportunities rather than inherit an established portfolio.
- Identify target customers
- Prospect from cold
- Secure meetings and develop opportunities through to conversion
- Be equally comfortable picking up the phone and generating your own leads as getting out on the road to meet customers, attend exhibitions and develop relationships face-to-face

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
