Business Development Manager (Midlands)
This is a remote role and will cover our entire Midlands region requiring extensive travel. Reporting in to the Regional Director, this role will be responsible for being an active member of the Win Work function, driving the growth of the business across multiple customer groups and geographical locations. Focusing on both business retention and new business acquisition developing opportunities in the regional area supported by others in the region as appropriate.
Based in the Win Work team, liaising closely with the Regions to ensure profitable growth through excellence in Key Account Management (KAM) and new work acquisitions. Supporting the implementation of the KAM approach within the regions and proactively sharing best practice from the Win Work Centre of Excellence.
Adopting best practice and highlighting opportunities that may require input from the wider Win Work community centrally or in the Regions. Ensuring effective Key Account Management for the region to grow existing customers, playing a leading role in identification and prioritisation of opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Working with and supporting the Regional Director and Regional Win Work Lead to profitably grow the region.
- Involved in identifying, prioritising and winning local opportunities across the region.
- Generating sales leads and pipeline and monitoring performance, ensuring that data is accurate and used to drive performance and forecasting.
- Monthly, weekly and daily reporting to monitor performance and activity.
- Ensure winning bid strategies are in pace for selected opportunities.
- Support the tender process for opportunities, taking a lead from a commercial perspective.
- Personally own a number of customer relationships and act as KAM for an agreed portfolio of customers.
- Meeting targets and KPI’s set as part of the Win Work strategy.
- Use customer feedback and partake in regular win/loss reviews to celebrate success or ensure that lessons learnt are embedded. Use this approach to help drive continuous improvement in the Region.
- Actively engaged in implementing the regional business retention and new business acquisition plans.
- Develop and maintain key relationships with customers across the Region.
- Assess opportunities to identify key customers and key target areas to develop a broad and appropriately balanced client base linked to the Regional strategy.
- Act as an advocate from the Win Work Centre of Excellence and ensure bid governance is followed.

Ensure a strong handover of secured sales to operations, including contract, KPI’s and client expectations.
Ensure regular communications with clients to ensure that they are kept updated on progress or any barriers linked to their contract.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- A track record of successfully leading business development, customer relationship management and bid work with a highly customer service focused approach.
- Ability to assess and prioritise, making strategic decisions that will support the business strategy for development.
- Resilient and self-motivated with a personal drive for continuous improvement.
- Ability to communicate and work with multiple teams and customers to achieve business goals.
- Able to coach and develop others.
- KPI and target driven, able to meet and exceed regional targets.
- Can actively contribute to group initiatives such as the Streamline Programme, role modelling to others.
