The Company
This is a genuinely outstanding business to work for. Our client is an established international manufacturer with an exceptional reputation for its people, culture, and the way it does business. Average employee tenure is around 10+ years, with many people having built careers spanning 20 years or more. The MD himself has been with the business for over two decades.
That retention comes from a culture built around high standards, strong ethics, trust, and autonomy. You'll be given the freedom to manage your territory and customers in your own way, while having an experienced and supportive team around you when you need them.
It's a collaborative environment where people genuinely help each other and take pride in the business they work for.
The Role
You'll take responsibility for developing sales across the UK water utility sector. This is approximately 50% existing account development / 50% new business. You'll inherit a significant portfolio of established water authority customers, representing around £1m of existing business, while having considerable scope to grow both existing accounts and win new customers.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
The previous person in the position more than doubled sales during their four years in the role, so you're walking into something with genuine momentum rather than starting from scratch.
You'll have considerable autonomy over how you develop the market building relationships, identifying opportunities, influencing specifications, managing tenders, and ultimately finding ways to win business.
The Person
We want to speak with proper salespeople who understand the UK water sector. Your exact product background is less important than your ability to build relationships and influence people.
You could currently be selling instrumentation, metering, pumps, valves, process equipment, environmental solutions, technical services, or another product into UK water authorities.
What matters is that you:
- Know your way around the UK water sector
- Can develop existing accounts while still hunting for new business
- Build strong, credible customer relationships
- Have the tenacity to keep going when the first answer is "no"
- Are comfortable working autonomously
- Still genuinely enjoy selling
