Business Development Manager Wholesale Cable

Internal - Milton Keynes

Role Purpose:

This role is responsible for driving profitable growth of the company’s cable business within the electrical wholesale sector. The successful candidate will proactively develop existing customer accounts, identify new sales opportunities, and increase customer spend through regular commercial engagement.

The role is primarily focused on business development and account growth, while also ensuring customers receive a high level of service and support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Proactively grow sales of the company’s cable product range within existing wholesale accounts.
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities with electrical wholesalers and buying group members.
  • Maintain regular outbound telephone and email contact with customers to generate enquiries and secure orders.
  • Build strong commercial relationships with key customer contacts and decision-makers.
  • Prepare and issue quotations, following up to maximise conversion and margin.
  • Support customer pricing agreements and the distribution of customer-specific price lists.
  • Work with buying groups and key accounts to increase product penetration and overall spend.
  • Respond to pricing and technical enquiries in a timely and professional manner.
  • Progress customer enquiries and coordinate with internal departments to ensure effective resolution.
  • Manage back-order communication and offer suitable alternatives where appropriate.
  • Escalate customer complaints where necessary and support prompt resolution.
  • Maintain accurate records of customer activity, opportunities, and sales performance within company systems.
  • Contribute to sales campaigns, promotions, and initiatives aimed at growing the cable business.
  • Attend trade events representing the company and its products.

Skills & Experience:

  • Previous experience in business development, internal sales, or account management.
  • Experience within the electrical wholesale or cable industry is highly desirable.
  • Strong commercial and negotiation skills including a good level of maths and English.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building ability.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and target focused.
  • Able to manage multiple customer accounts and priorities effectively.
  • Competent in CRM and sales order processing systems.
