Business Development Manager – Financial SaaS

£45,000–£50,000 + Uncapped Commission | £70,000–£80,000 OTE
Hybrid – London / Remote

Certus Recruitment is working with an established financial SaaS business entering an exciting new phase of growth.

Our client provides a cloud-based financial management and accounting platform designed to give organisations a modern alternative to slow, disconnected legacy finance systems.

With 20 years behind the business, a proven SaaS product and an established customer base, they are now investing in their next stage of expansion – bringing a genuine scale-up mentality to an already successful software company.

We’re looking for a new-business SaaS salesperson who enjoys creating opportunities, engaging senior decision-makers and closing deals. This isn't an account management role. You'll own the sales process from identifying and developing opportunities through to close, selling into mid-market organisations and engaging with CFOs, finance leaders and other C-level stakeholders.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

The Role:

  • Win new mid-market customers and develop your own pipeline
  • Sell a proven financial SaaS platform to senior finance and business leaders
  • Combine inbound opportunities with proactive outbound prospecting
  • Navigate 3–6 month, multi-stakeholder sales cycles

  • Work closely with technical teams through onboarding and go-live
  • Have genuine input into customer acquisition strategy as the business scales

We're Looking For:

  • 2+ years' experience closing new business within SaaS/software
  • A demonstrable "hunter" mentality and willingness to self-generate opportunities
  • Experience selling to mid-market organisations
  • Confidence engaging CFOs and other C-suite stakeholders
  • Strong consultative and solution-selling skills
  • Experience within financial SaaS, FinTech, accounting software, ERP or related technology would be particularly relevant, although isn't essential
  • An understanding of accounting principles – or the ability to learn them quickly enough to speak the language of a CFO
  • The ability to work autonomously without needing to be micromanaged
