About Our Client
Our client is a specialist media and business intelligence company providing concise, high-quality briefings to leading organisations across business, finance and the public sector.
Their established European economics briefing helps senior clients quickly understand what is happening across Europe and what really matters, while bespoke services provide tailored media and business intelligence for organisations with more specific needs.
They are now looking for their first dedicated Business Development Manager to build on an existing client base and drive new business.
This is a hands-on role in a small, established business, working directly with the founder with considerable autonomy to identify opportunities and help shape the company’s commercial growth.
What you’ll do
- Personally generate new business, from researching prospects and making the initial approach through to pitching and closing
- Build and manage a strong pipeline of prospective clients
- Win new subscription clients and identify opportunities for bespoke intelligence projects
- Develop relationships with senior decision-makers, including communications, corporate affairs, strategy, economics and research teams
- Help develop long-term client relationships and renewals

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
