BDM – UK Automation (New & Existing Accounts)
Location: UK (national travel required)

Focus: 60% new business / 40% existing accounts
Role Summary
The Business Development Manager will drive commercial growth across the UK automation market, targeting manufacturers, integrators, OEMs, and end-users. This role blends proactive new business acquisition with strategic development of existing accounts, ensuring sustained revenue, increased market penetration, and long-term customer partnerships. You’ll be the face of the business in the UK—identifying opportunities, shaping solutions, and closing deals.
Key Responsibilities
New Business Development
- Identify, target, and win new automation customers across manufacturing, logistics, FMCG, automotive, and industrial sectors.
- Build and manage a robust pipeline using structured outreach, networking, and market intelligence.
- Lead the full sales cycle: prospecting → qualification → solution development → proposal → negotiation → close.

Account Management
- Own and grow a portfolio of existing UK accounts, increasing wallet share and identifying cross-sell/upsell opportunities.
- Conduct regular business reviews, performance analysis, and strategic planning with key customers.
- Strengthen long-term relationships through consistent communication, value delivery, and problem-solving.
Market & Commercial Strategy
- Map the UK automation landscape, tracking competitors, pricing trends, and emerging technologies.
- Provide feedback to leadership on product positioning, customer needs, and market gaps.
- Collaborate with marketing to support campaigns, events, and targeted outreach.
Internal Collaboration
- Work closely with engineering, project delivery, and technical teams to shape customer solutions.
- Ensure accurate forecasting, CRM hygiene, and reporting of pipeline and performance metrics.
- Support cross-border opportunities with European colleagues where relevant.
Required Experience
- 5+ years in automation, intralogistics, industrial equipment, robotics, or engineering solutions sales.
- Proven track record of winning new business and growing existing accounts.
- Strong understanding of automation technologies (e.g., conveyors, robotics, AMRs/AGVs, PLC/controls, warehouse automation).
- Experience selling into manufacturing, logistics, or industrial end-users.
- Comfortable with technical discussions and solution-based selling.
