Business Development Manager — Scotland
Join a forward-thinking organisation based in Livingston, where ambition is matched with practical delivery. Our client is building strong, long-term relationships with customers and partners in FM / Telecoms / Power / Drainage / Water / EV sectors and are looking for a Business Development Manager who enjoys turning opportunities into measurable growth. Job Responsibilities
- Identify, develop, and manage new business opportunities to drive revenue growth.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with prospective clients through a consultative approach.
- Develop and execute sales strategies aligned with company targets and market opportunities.
- Conduct market research to understand customer needs, competitor activity, and emerging trends.
- Manage the full sales cycle, from initial outreach and qualification through to proposal and close.
- Prepare and present sales proposals, ensuring solutions are tailored to customer requirements.
- Work closely with internal teams to ensure smooth delivery of agreed solutions and customer outcomes.
- Track sales activity, pipeline performance, and forecast accuracy, reporting progress as required.
- Attend meetings, networking events, and industry gatherings to strengthen brand presence.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of sales processes and lead generation activities.

Required Skills & Qualifications
- Proven experience in business development or sales roles, ideally within a B2B environment.
- Experienced selling within national or large client links FM / Telecoms / Power / Drainage / Water / EV
- Strong consultative selling skills with the ability to understand customer challenges and propose solutions.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with confidence in presenting to decision-makers.
- Demonstrable ability to build and manage a sales pipeline, including accurate forecasting.
- Strong negotiation skills, with a track record of closing deals and managing commercial discussions.
- Ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Competent in CRM systems and sales reporting to maintain pipeline visibility and performance tracking.
- Strong organisational skills, including attention to detail when preparing proposals and documentation.
- Relevant qualification in Business, Sales, Marketing, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
- Sales training or certification (for example, a recognised sales qualification) is desirable.
- Technical aptitude to quickly understand products/services and translate them into customer value.
