BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER, BASINGSTOKE

£35,000 + Uncapped commission

Ready to take ownership of business development within a growing engineering company where you'll inherit established accounts, develop new opportunities and play a key role in shaping the future of the sales function?

Get Recruited are proud to be partnering with a well-established and growing business that designs and manufactures bespoke solutions for customers across a wide range of industries. As the business continues to grow, they're looking to appoint their first dedicated sales professional to work alongside the Managing Director, who has successfully driven all commercial activity to date.

This is a unique opportunity to be mentored directly by the MD, inherit established customer relationships, and play a key role in shaping the future sales function of the business. If you're someone who enjoys spending time with customers, understanding technical requirements and becoming a trusted partner rather than simply chasing sales targets, this could be the perfect opportunity.

The Role

This is a highly collaborative position where you'll spend time both in the office and visiting customers across the local region, working alongside the Operations Manager, Design Engineers and Shop Floor team to ensure customers receive the highest level of service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage long-term relationships with an established portfolio of customers.
  • Learn the company's products, services and technical capabilities through hands-on mentoring from the Managing Director.
  • Visit customers on-site to understand their requirements and identify commercial opportunities.
  • Generate new business opportunities through networking, lead generation and marketing activity.
  • Prepare quotations, proposals and commercial solutions tailored to customer requirements.
  • Work closely with the Operations Manager and production team to ensure projects are delivered successfully.
  • Collaborate with Design Engineers to develop bespoke customer solutions.
  • Manage the full sales process from enquiry through to order and ongoing account management.
  • Maintain regular customer contact to maximise repeat business and identify upselling opportunities.
  • Represent the business professionally at customer meetings and industry events where required.
  • Help shape and develop the future sales strategy as the business continues to expand.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
