Job Opportunity: Business Development Manager - Workwear & Foot Protection

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a strategic business development plan to drive new customer acquisition and profitable sales growth within the UK Workwear & Foot Protection market.
  • Identify, target, and secure new business opportunities by building a robust pipeline of prospective national accounts and key decision-makers.
  • Establish and develop strong relationships with new customers, ensuring Milwaukee is positioned as a preferred partner within the Workwear & Foot Protection category.
  • Work autonomously to implement the Milwaukee growth strategy, delivering against agreed sales, margin, and customer acquisition objectives.
  • Demonstrate strong commercial awareness by understanding market trends, customer needs, competitor activity, and pricing dynamics to identify opportunities and maximise profitability.
  • Regularly provide market intelligence and customer feedback, including competitor product launches, pricing strategies, service propositions, and emerging market opportunities, helping to shape Milwaukee's commercial and product strategy.
  • Collaborate closely with the wider UK sales team and attend the Marlow office a minimum of one day per week to share best practice, contribute innovative ideas, support cross-functional initiatives, and align on strategic priorities.
  • Influence the development of product range, promotional activity, and customer-specific solutions that support business growth and strengthen Milwaukee's position within the Workwear & Foot Protection market.
  • Deliver accurate sales forecasts, monthly turnover projections, and pipeline updates to support business planning and budget expectations.
  • Build strong internal relationships and communicate effectively with key stakeholders including Sales Management, Finance, Marketing, Product Management, Customer Services, and Logistics to ensure customer opportunities are successfully delivered.
  • Take ownership of the profitability of the Workwear & Foot Protection business within the assigned customer portfolio, managing sales performance against revenue, margin, and P&L objectives. Drive commercially sound decisions that maximise growth, improve profitability, and deliver sustainable returns for the business.
  • To carry out other ad hoc responsibilities as requested by the Line Manager from time to time.

Experience/Skills Required

  • Minimum 5 years' sales experience within the Workwear and Footwear sector, with a proven track record of winning new business and delivering sales targets.
  • Experience managing and developing national customer accounts.
  • Strong commercial acumen with a good understanding of P&L and margin management.
  • Construction industry experience desirable.
  • Knowledge of the Milwaukee market and ability to identify growth opportunities.
  • Sales and/or Marketing qualification desirable but not essential.
  • Passion for the Milwaukee brand and commitment to delivering results.
  • Collaborative team player, capable of building strong internal and external relationships.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong planning and organisation skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
  • Ability to analyse market/competitor data and provide clear business insights and reporting.
  • Proactively monitor and report on competitor activity, market trends and customer feedback.
  • Willingness to attend trade shows, exhibitions and industry events.
  • Self-motivated with excellent time management skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Willingness to travel extensively across the UK, with occasional European travel.
  • Full UK Driving Licence required.
