Description
Bates Wells is seeking a BDM Manager to join our busy BDM team to support their Charity & Social Enterprise team.
This is a 10+ month fixed term contract to cover maternity.
The successful candidate will have a broad marketing and business development law firm background at manager level. They will understand how to externalise and add commercial value to our leading legal expertise. They will understand the importance of high quality client and market intelligence to maintain our position as thought leaders. They will have experience advising, working with and reporting to senior stake holders on the delivery of key campaigns to drive revenue.
Key Responsibilities
In this position you will:
- Coordinate and produce ChaSE specific RFP responses and pitch materials for clients. Use your experience to help lawyers with their tender presentations
- Work with the BDMD, ChaSE Clients & Markets Team and BDM Executive to create and deliver our flagship ChaSE event, Spotlight, in 2027
- Work with the BDM Executive to deliver the ChaSE team business plan and develop and support BDM initiatives
- Work with the BDM Executive to create and deliver ChaSE targeted campaigns to raise awareness of our products and services
- Work with the ChaSE Clients & Markets Team and BDM Executive to plan for new and innovative products and services
- Work with the BDM Executive and Assistant to manage the strategic and logistical tasks associated with ChaSE marketing events
- Work with the BDMD and BDM Executive to manage and maximise value from our strategic commercial partnerships
- Use data and metrics to continuously improve and adjust the output of the team
- Draft and post content to the firm's social media channels and website
- Support other members of the BDM team on ad hoc projects
- Specific tasks may change over time, so we’ll need you to be adaptable and flexible as we continue to meet our clients’ needs.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
To thrive in this role you will;
- Have demonstrable experience in a similar role in a law firm.
- Have excellent organisational skills: be a multi-tasker with the ability to manage your own workload, and the workload of others in an efficient and timely manner.
- Have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Demonstrate great attention to detail.
- Be a smart, fast, reliable and enthusiastic team player.

About you
- A seasoned BDM expert who has worked in a similar role to deliver strategic goals and growth, ideally CIM qualified (or equivalent)
- Experience working in a BDM advisory role, advising senior stakeholders in the business.
- A client-centric approach with evidence of adding value and growth.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A creative, solutions-focused outlook.
- The ability to build, maintain and nurture relationships.
