Consult Simplicity Job Description
Consult Simplicity has been engaged by a purpose-led digital media business to identify an experienced Business Development & Partnerships Consultant. The client operates across content, digital media, events, and brand partnerships, creating culturally relevant campaigns and experiences for an engaged audience. This is a confidential search, so the client’s identity will be shared with suitable candidates at the appropriate stage.
The consultant will work directly with the CEO to generate commercial opportunities and income through paid partnerships. The client is looking for someone with strong experience across agencies and brands, a demonstrable sales track record, and an established network that can be activated quickly. The successful consultant will be commercially sharp, relationship-led, and comfortable owning the new-business process from initial outreach through to active pitching and negotiation.
Partnerships
- Generate new business and secure paid partnerships valued at £250k per annum.
- Independently develop partnership opportunities across multiple levels, including agency partnerships, direct-to-client opportunities, and smaller one-off partnerships across content, editorial, newsletters, and events.
- Secure longer-term partnerships with existing and returning clients.
- Ensure partnership opportunities reflect the breadth of the client’s content franchises and commercial offering.

B2B Outreach
- Proactively research new and innovative partnerships and B2B relationships aligned with the client’s values, work, and content franchises.
- Build relationships with key media agencies, including partnership and inclusive-planning teams.
- Attend and present at relevant breakfast meetings, lunch-and-learns, and other industry opportunities to generate interest and leads.
- Develop and maintain a database of clients and businesses as part of the wider B2B strategy.
- Develop relevant B2B outreach activity against monthly targets and the client’s commercial priorities.
- Use warm personal connections and contacts to generate pipeline leads.
- Use the client’s owned channels and platforms to generate partnership opportunities.
- Work with the content team to produce relevant pitch materials and decks for CEO sign-off.
- Take relevant client meetings on new leads before moving opportunities into active pitching.
Client Management
- Support the CEO with senior client management, relationships, and meetings up to the point of finalising a partnership.
- Respond to client briefs and work with the internal team to prepare pitch responses; support is available to produce decks, media plans, and one-pagers.
- Liaise with the senior content and partnerships lead to prepare pitch decks and media plans as required.
- Work with the CEO to actively pitch to clients and negotiate final costs and deliverables before handing over to the internal team for delivery.

What We Are Looking For
- Proven business development, partnerships, or commercial sales experience within media, creative, content, advertising, or an adjacent environment.
- A strong network across agencies, brands, and relevant decision-makers.
- A track record of building pipeline and converting opportunities into paid partnerships.
- Confidence presenting, pitching, and negotiating at senior level.
- An entrepreneurial, proactive working style and the ability to operate independently from day one.
- Strong relationship-building skills and sound commercial judgement.
This opportunity is initially structured as a two-day-per-week engagement over three months, with scope for the right person to transition into a permanent position thereafter.
