Business Development & Partnerships Consultant

Part Time Consultancy | Remote | UK & US Markets

Company Description

SayAfter is The Family Storytelling App.

A picture captures a moment. SayAfter captures the stories behind the moments.

SayAfter helps families preserve the stories, voices, and memories behind their photographs and important moments, creating something meaningful that can be shared with children, grandchildren, and future generations.

Alongside our direct consumer offering, we're developing B2B partnerships with organizations that already support and engage with families, including charities, hospices, funeral providers, care organizations, and other businesses where family, memories, storytelling, and legacy naturally align.

The Opportunity

We're looking for an experienced and commercially driven Business Development & Partnerships Consultant to work directly with SayAfter's Founder and help develop our B2B pipeline across the UK and US.

This is a part-time independent consultancy, not a salaried employment position.

The initial commitment is approximately one day per week, but we're completely flexible about how that time is distributed. You may prefer to spread your activity across several days to manage prospecting, LinkedIn conversations, follow-ups, and meetings effectively.

We're interested in results rather than fixed working hours.

The role would particularly suit an experienced sales or business development professional looking to build a consultancy portfolio, take on an exciting additional project, or work with an early-stage company where there is genuine performance-based earning potential.

What You'll Be Doing

You'll have considerable autonomy to identify where you believe the strongest commercial opportunities exist.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Researching potential B2B customers and strategic partners across the UK and US
  • Identifying and engaging relevant decision-makers
  • Starting conversations through LinkedIn, email, telephone, and other appropriate channels
  • Developing relationships rather than relying on mass automated outreach
  • Qualifying genuine commercial opportunities
  • Booking qualified meetings with Adam, SayAfter's Founder
  • Progressing opportunities through the sales cycle where appropriate
  • Presenting and demonstrating SayAfter once familiar with the product
  • Developing proposals and supporting commercial negotiations
  • Taking ownership of opportunities through to close where comfortable doing so
  • Maintaining a clear and organized B2B pipeline
  • Identifying new sectors, partnership models, and routes to market

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

We don't want someone who simply works through a list we've created.

We want someone commercially curious enough to say, “I've found an opportunity here that SayAfter hasn't considered.”

Commercial Structure

The initial consultancy retainer is:

£400 per calendar month

for approximately one day of consultancy support per week, distributed flexibly.

In addition to the retainer, there is significant uncapped performance-based earning potential.

  • 12.5% commission on qualifying B2B business you originate where the Founder subsequently takes primary responsibility for progressing and closing the opportunity.
  • 20% commission where you originate the opportunity and retain primary commercial ownership through to successful close.

Commission is linked directly to B2B revenue generated, meaning successful consultants have the opportunity to earn significantly more than the monthly retainer.

The intention is simple: if you create substantial commercial value for SayAfter, you should participate meaningfully in that value.

Who We're Looking For

We're particularly interested in people with experience in B2B sales, business development, strategic partnerships, SaaS, technology, charities, healthcare, funeral services, care, employee benefits, or other relevant sectors.

You should be comfortable creating opportunities from nothing.

Strong candidates will have experience with some combination of:

  • Cold and warm B2B prospecting
  • LinkedIn and email outreach
  • Engaging senior decision-makers
  • Consultative selling
  • Partnership development
  • Pipeline management
  • Commercial negotiation
  • Closing B2B contracts
  • Working independently with limited supervision

Experience selling into the US market would be particularly valuable.

What Success Looks Like

We're not interested in vanity metrics or hundreds of meaningless messages.

Success means creating genuine commercial conversations with relevant organizations, developing qualified opportunities, and ultimately generating B2B revenue for SayAfter.

Initially, you'll work closely with the Founder on commercial conversations and closing opportunities. As your knowledge of SayAfter develops, there is scope to take increasing ownership of the complete sales process.

Longer Term Opportunity

SayAfter is an early-stage company, so we're deliberately starting with a small fixed consultancy commitment while we establish and scale our B2B channels.

For the right person, however, this role has the potential to become considerably bigger.

If you demonstrate that you can consistently create and convert commercial opportunities, we're open to increasing the consultancy commitment and developing the position alongside the growth of the company.

Applying

Please don't send us a generic sales application.

Tell us briefly:

  1. Why does SayAfter interest you?
  2. Tell us about B2B opportunities you've personally originated through outbound activity.
  3. Are you comfortable working on an independent consultancy basis for £400 per month plus performance commission?
  4. Approximately what level of commitment would you be comfortable providing within this arrangement?
  5. Which UK or US market would you initially be most confident targeting and why?
