Role: Business Development Representative
Salary: £25,000 to £30,000 depending on experience
On target earnings: £35,000 to £45,000
Reporting to: Commercial Director
Working Location: Hybrid, 3 days a week in our Old Street office, London

We are looking for a Business Development Representative to help drive our ambitious growth plans, generate new business opportunities, and build meaningful client relationships.
Buildscout is backed and supported by Searchland, the UK’s leading B2B proptech company transforming how businesses and individuals access and leverage property data.
As one of the earlier members of the Buildscout sales team, you will have the opportunity to take ownership of your work, contribute ideas, and play a meaningful role in the growth of the business.
Role Overview
As a Business Development Representative at Buildscout, you will take ownership of the sales cycle, from generating and prospecting new opportunities through to product demonstrations, negotiation and closing deals.
You will proactively engage prospective clients through outbound activity, build strong relationships, understand their commercial needs, and demonstrate how Buildscout can help them generate high quality construction leads.
This is a hands on sales role where you will work closely with the Commercial Director and wider team, while also having the opportunity to share ideas that help improve our sales approach, customer experience and product.
Your Responsibilities
- Identify and engage potential clients through outbound calling, email outreach and prospecting.
- Use tools including HubSpot, Google and Notion to research, manage and engage prospective clients.
- Manage the sales process from prospecting and pitching through to negotiation and closing deals.
- Build strong relationships with new leads and prospective customers.
- Drive outbound activity to create new business opportunities.
- Qualify inbound leads and understand whether Buildscout is the right solution for their needs.
- Deliver product demonstrations and clearly communicate the value of the Buildscout platform.
- Understand prospective customers’ challenges and advise them on how Buildscout can support their business.
- Maintain strong communication with prospects throughout the sales process.
- Keep up with trends across the property, construction and wider built environment sectors.
- Track sales performance and activity through the CRM.
- Provide insights and feedback that can help improve sales strategies and processes.
- Share customer and prospect feedback with the wider team to support product development.
- Take ownership of personal sales targets and contribute to overall business growth.

Requirements
- Right to work in the UK. We cannot offer sponsorship for this role.
- London based or within reasonable commuting distance of our Old Street office.
- A genuine interest in sales and a desire to develop within a commercial role.
- Self motivation, resilience and the ability to thrive within a fast paced startup environment.
- Strong communication skills and confidence engaging prospective customers.
- Strong presentation and negotiation skills, both virtually and in person.
- Ability to manage your time independently and work proactively.
- Comfortable learning and using CRM and sales tools.
- Previous experience with HubSpot is helpful but not essential, as training will be provided.
- An interest in real estate, construction, property technology or SaaS would be beneficial.

Interview Process
- Stage 1: Initial screening interview, approximately 15 to 20 minutes.
- Stage 2: Interview with the Commercial Director, approximately 30 to 40 minutes, either in person or virtually.
- Stage 3: Final interview and competency assessment with members of the senior leadership team.
