Business Development Representative
About the Role
We are appointing a Business Development Representative to lead outbound prospecting into the private equity market. The purpose of the role is to identify the right people at funds and portfolio companies, open a conversation with them, and secure a qualified first meeting for the commercial team.
This is a dedicated origination role. It does not involve closing, pricing, or proposal writing. Once a meeting is qualified and booked, you hand it over with a concise briefing and return to building the pipeline. Your performance is measured on the outreach you deliver and the meetings and qualified opportunities you create.
Your contacts will be value creation and portfolio operations partners and deal team members at private equity funds, together with the CEOs, CFOs, CIOs, and CTOs of their portfolio companies.
Responsibilities
- Research private equity funds and their portfolios, and build and maintain named contact lists against agreed criteria.
- Run daily cold outreach by telephone, email, and LinkedIn to senior contacts with whom Attercop has no existing relationship.
- Respond promptly to inbound enquiries, event contacts, and referrals, and pursue every open conversation to a clear outcome.
- Map the portfolios of funds Attercop already works with and open conversations with companies we have not yet reached.
- Qualify each opportunity against agreed criteria, secure the first meeting, and prepare a short handover briefing.
- Maintain a complete and current record in Pipedrive and produce the weekly pipeline report.
- Represent Attercop at our own events and selected industry events, and follow up every contact made.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
