Business Development Representative

As our next Business Development Representative, you'll play a key role in helping us build the UK's go-to home improvement marketplace. You'll sit right at the top of our sales funnel, sparking the conversations that turn cold prospects into real opportunities for our account management team to run with. It's a role for someone who gets a kick out of the chase of a fresh lead, and who's ready to turn that hustle into a genuine career in sales.

Key Responsibilities

  • Hunting down and researching potential leads across multiple channels, then sizing up whether they're a genuine fit for Checkatrade.
  • Picking up the phone (and firing off emails) to start conversations that uncover what prospects actually need and where it hurts.
  • Making Checkatrade's value proposition land clearly and quickly, in a way that sparks real curiosity.
  • Warming leads up through the early stages of their journey, then handing them over cleanly to account management for the next chapter.
  • Keeping Salesforce spotless with accurate, up-to-date records of every conversation and lead.
  • Teaming up with account management and other teams to swap insights, sharpen outreach, and squeeze more conversions out of every lead.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
