Role Purpose
The Business Development Representative (BDR) owns the top of the UK funnel so the Commercial Director can spend their time on discovery, demos, partnerships, and closing. This role gives the Commercial Director a steady flow of qualified first meetings with high-fit QSR and multi-site hospitality brands. The BDR finds, researches, and engages high-fit operators, then hands over qualified meetings with the context needed to win.
Key Responsibilities
Pipeline Generation
- Build and maintain a prioritised UK target list of QSR and multi-site hospitality brands, tiered by fit, site count, and current tech stack.
- Run tailored multi-channel outreach (email, LinkedIn, phone, video) to operators, founders, ops directors, CFOs, and IT leads.
- Execute priority sales plays set by the Commercial Director, such as competitor displacement campaigns, partner-referred introductions, and event follow-up.
- Qualify inbound, partner, and event leads and generate early-stage interest in the Redcat value proposition.
- Book qualified first meetings for the Commercial Director and hand each one over with a written account brief.
Account Research & Insight
- Research each target before contact: site count, growth plans, and recent news.
- Map buying committees and find warm paths in through partners, shared connections, and existing Redcat customers.
- Feed patterns seen in the market back to the Commercial Director, marketing, and product.
AI-Powered Prospecting
AI is central to this role. The BDR is expected to design, run, and keep improving an AI-assisted prospecting workflow that increases output without making outreach generic:
- Signal detection: Use AI and intent data to flag trigger events: new site openings, funding rounds, leadership hires, franchise expansion, tech-stack changes, poor delivery or app reviews, and competitor platform issues.
- Account research: Use AI assistants (for example, Claude) to turn public sources, annual reports, menus, job ads, and news into actionable insights.
- Enrichment and mapping: Use tools such as LinkedIn Sales Navigator, Clay, or Apollo alongside HubSpot to find and verify the right contacts and map key stakeholders.
- Personalised messaging: Use AI to draft outreach tied to each operator’s situation and Redcat’s proof points.
- Meeting preparation: Give the Commercial Director a brief for every booked meeting: context, likely pains, stakeholders, and suggested discovery questions.
- Learn and improve: Analyse which signals, messages, and channels convert, and refine the playbook every month.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Building the AI Playbook
- Build reusable prompts, templates, and agent workflows, and document them so others in Redcat can use them.
- Keep up with new tools, run small tests, and recommend what to adopt or drop based on results.
- Use AI responsibly: comply with UK GDPR and PECR, protect customer and commercial data, and fact-check anything before it reaches a prospect.
Working with Sales & Marketing
- Plan weekly priorities with the Commercial Director and join discovery calls to learn more about our customers and their priorities.
- Work with marketing on UK campaigns, content, and events, and turn campaign engagement into conversations.
- Support UK events and trade shows with pre-event targeting, on-the-day meetings, and fast follow-up.
CRM & Reporting
- Keep HubSpot accurate and complete: contacts, companies, activity, sequences, and meeting outcomes.
- Report weekly on activity, conversion rates, meetings booked, and pipeline created.
- Test and measure new messaging and channels, and share what works.
What Success Looks Like
Success is measured on qualified pipeline created for the UK, not on activity volume: qualified meetings held with decision-makers at ICP brands, the opportunities those meetings create, same-day response to inbound and event leads, complete HubSpot records, and an AI prospecting playbook that is documented and improved month on month. Specific targets will be agreed with the Commercial Director.
