Business Development and Sales Manager
We are seeking a Business Development and Sales Manager to join our Data and Services team. This is an opportunity to join our global Business Development team and will be based at our London office, in the UK.
This role is responsible for driving Business Development and Sales regarding the full range of AAC Clyde Space’s data services but will be primarily focusing on the Earth Observation based opportunities. This role will also provide market insights into the strategic direction for the Data & Services business line. The successful candidate will create, identify, drive and take responsibility for opportunities, establish a strong pipeline and win contracts.
This opportunity is ideal for someone with previous Earth Observation data and services expertise and can match this with commercial aptitude. You will be passionate about space with a technical background and a creative mind to seek and propose new service concepts to meet real-world user needs. You will also enjoy networking with customers and be comfortable leading workshops with clients to dive deeply into their challenges to define and deliver novel solutions. You will be focusing primarily on commercial opportunities however this will also be supplemented by R&D project applications as/when necessary.
You need to be committed to delivering sales targets and working in a dynamic, fast paced working environment with exciting projects and challenging schedules.
The role can be available on a hybrid working basis as the nature of the role will likely require frequent business travel (both local and global) plus the occasional ‘out of hours’ work that may be required to support customer and business activities. Key Responsibilities
- To secure contracts for the Data & Services division
- Deliver work tasks and assignments in accordance with agreed priorities to the required standards, quality, budget and deadlines
- Execute the role in accordance with company strategy, sales processes and wider governance considerations.
- Tracking and reporting on progress of sales opportunities via the corporate CRM system.
- Active customer engagement to manage their account and understand their needs
- Leverage and develop your network and understanding of various sectoral markets to identify new opportunities and evolve your knowledge of existing customers
- Propose and share ideas from customers, stakeholders, colleagues for future satellite services that can form part of the wider group’s technology roadmaps
- Develop close relationships with our Data & Services colleagues to create new cross-technology concepts and to continuously develop knowledge of other technology types and markets (e.g. AIS, VDES, satellite operations etc)
- Liaise with the wider Business Development team to ensure regular communication so assess if there are customers for other business lines (Products & Missions)
- Contribute to proposals and securing new projects in partnership with the wider Business Development team
- Provide input to inform company technical/commercial strategy/new product development
- Act as the customer friend internally, and where necessary provide guidance to the delivery teams
- Manage relationships and expectations with other key stakeholders to ensure their continued support

Skills Required
- Relevant degree or equivalent work experience
- Previous business development and sales experience (preferably in a range of different sectors – not necessarily the space sector, as most of the Data and Services clients will not be space companies)
- Experience of finding solutions with Earth Observation technologies, knowledge of EO data products and how they are created, and an understanding of how services can be rolled out from initial concepts/pilot studies.
- The ability to balance perfect technical solutions against commercial constraints to yield realistic and saleable propositions
- Ability to understand technical concepts to a sufficient level of detail for sales activities, and be able to translate complex technical concepts into easy-to-understand dialogue for non-specialists
- Excellent communication, and interpersonal skills, including giving public presentations or running client-focused deep-dive workshops
- Evidence of developing and maintaining customer and stakeholder relationships
- Working knowledge and ability to apply contractual guidelines, quality standards and controls appropriate to each global region
- Identify risks and opportunities to the business with compliance related activities
- Maintain accountability for your work while contributing to a supportive and inclusive team culture.
- Proactive mindset with a strong sense of both curiosity and operational follow-through
- Excellent organisation and prioritisation; comfortable with multiple concurrent workstreams/multiple projects in a dynamic environment and tight deadlines.
- Competent IT skills including Microsoft software
- Proficient in English, both verbally and written
