Business Development Specialist
Apprenticeship Training Provider
Location: Hybrid – 1–2 days per week in the office (Solihull or Oxfordshire)
Salary: £35,000 per annum
OTE: £50,000+
Holidays: 25 days + Bank Holidays
About the Role
We are working with a growing apprenticeship training provider rated Good by Ofsted, who are looking to appoint an experienced Business Development Specialist to join their commercial team.
This is an exciting opportunity for a driven sales professional with a proven track record of selling apprenticeship programmes and workforce development solutions to employers. You will play a pivotal role in driving employer engagement, generating new business opportunities, and growing apprenticeship starts across a range of sectors.
Working autonomously while being supported by an ambitious leadership team, you'll have the opportunity to make a genuine impact on business growth and future success.
What You'll Be Doing
Business Development & Employer Engagement
- Develop and execute a strategic business development plan to generate new employer partnerships.
- Identify and target organisations with apprenticeship and workforce development needs.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers, HR professionals, L&D teams and senior stakeholders.
- Conduct face-to-face and virtual meetings to promote apprenticeship programmes and funding opportunities.
- Manage the full sales cycle from initial contact through to enrolment and apprenticeship start.

Lead Generation & Pipeline Management
- Generate new business opportunities through networking, referrals, LinkedIn, email campaigns, and outbound calling.
- Build and maintain a healthy pipeline of prospective employers.
- Accurately record all activity and opportunities within the CRM system.
- Produce regular forecasts and pipeline reports.
Apprenticeship Sales
- Consult with employers to understand skills gaps and workforce development requirements.
- Present apprenticeship solutions that align with business objectives.
- Provide advice and guidance regarding apprenticeship funding and levy utilisation.
- Work closely with delivery and learner engagement teams to ensure a seamless learner journey and successful starts.
About You

- Proven experience in a Business Development Manager, Employer Engagement Manager, Account Manager, or Apprenticeship Sales role.
- Demonstrable experience selling apprenticeship programmes is essential.
- Strong understanding of the apprenticeship landscape and employer funding models.
- Proven track record of meeting and exceeding sales targets.
- Excellent communication, presentation and relationship-building skills.
- Self-motivated, commercially focused and able to work independently.
- Strong pipeline and stakeholder management experience.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to employer meetings when required.
