As a Business Development Support Officer for the Health and Wellbeing Services, you'll thrive on creating engaging marketing campaigns, building valuable partnerships and delivering innovative projects that connect schools, communities and partners with services that improve the health and wellbeing of children and young people. You'll play a key role in promoting our traded offer, increasing engagement and supporting the growth and sustainability of our services.

It's about being part of a proactive, can-do team that champions our services, identifies new opportunities, grows our audience, and develops creative marketing approaches that extend our reach, increase participation and generate income to support positive change for children and young people.

About You
As a Business Development Support Officer, you will bring to the role:
- Experience in marketing, communications, sales and business development.
- The ability to build strong partnerships with a wide range of stakeholders.

About The Role
As our next Business Development Support Officer, you’ll be joining a dynamic and ambitious team at a time of growth and opportunity. This role offers the chance to make a real impact by helping to promote and develop services that support thousands of children and young people across Leeds and beyond. Combining creativity, relationship building and commercial awareness, you'll play a key role in increasing engagement, growing income streams and ensuring our services reach the schools, organisations and communities that need them most.
The Health and Wellbeing Services are a provider of high-quality services that empower children and young people to be active, safe, healthy and resilient through inclusive, evidence-based initiatives and support. Our services include Healthy Schools, PSHE and RSHE Education, Healthy Eating, ‘My Health My School’, Resilience Programmes, Active Schools+, and our Outdoor Activity Centres, Herd Farm and West Leeds Activity Centre.
The role is integral to our team, providing business development, marketing and project support across a diverse portfolio of services. You'll work collaboratively with colleagues from several teams, supporting a range of business priorities and contributing to the continued growth and success of our services. As a result, you'll need to be flexible, adaptable and confident building positive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
No two days are the same. One day you could be developing a marketing campaign, the next analysing performance data and sales, updating social media, networking, supporting a service launch or identifying new opportunities to expand our reach and impact.
As you'll be supporting a variety of teams within the Health and Wellbeing Services, your work location will vary day to day, and include sites across Leeds such as Tech North, Merrion House, Herd Farm and West Leeds Activity Centre, alongside opportunities for flexible home working.

Job Description
Job Purpose:
Responsible for supporting the Health and Wellbeing Services business and traded service plans.
Responsibilities
- Support and advise in the development and delivery of the Services’ business plan, improve traded services and generate income to support the work of the service including annual review of the Health and Wellbeing Services offer, developed in conjunction with key stakeholder groups including Headteachers.
- Support effective management of service budgets, finance systems and develop budget/spending plans to work towards traded income to cover the costs of the Services.
- Maintain manual and digital records accurately collating and processing information from a variety of sources including reports in accordance with the requirements of GDPR.
- Support the review, development and launch of annual Service Level Agreements including specific activities during the course of the academic and financial year; promotion, publicity, reporting systems for headteachers and monitoring take-up and use of the SLA offers.
- Support marketing of annual training programme and publicity strategy linking with the Services’ website.
- Monitor and evaluate the annual training programme including; numbers of, and overall income generated by Leeds attendees and number of, and overall income generated by external attendees.
- Continually improve contact lists and related communications systems for schools in, and outside of, Leeds in line with GDPR.
- Support the team to identify and develop opportunities to promote best practice in schools, resolution of relevant queries from schools, working closely with the administrative team.
- Support developing cross-authority partnerships, emerging developments and new business ideas for generating income.
- Coordinate, in negotiation with the service manager, administrative staff and consultants, ongoing improvements to the services’ websites and their promotion to generate a successful income streams, meeting deadlines and delegating administrative duties as appropriate.
- Co-ordinate the quality assurance (QA) and proofing of copy for online resources and support any associated legal and copyright procedures. Update and collate news content for all websites managed by the services, including Leeds for Learning.
- Develop effective sales, publicity and marketing strategies for the programme, locally, regionally and nationally including identification, research and testing potential new market opportunities - with local authorities, academy chains, multi academy trusts (MAT’s) and independent/free schools including maintenance of a key contacts list.
- Work towards agreed outcome measures for children and young people within a results-based accountability framework. Adhere to team QA procedures and work to agreed trading targets with regard to all training and support to schools.
- Maintain effective relationships with staff at all levels within Childrens Services, other Council Directorates, Elected Members, external agencies and the general public.

Qualifications
Degree level or equivalent knowledge and experience gained in relevant service area is essential.

- Knowledge of business and trading environment, including sales, communication and marketing techniques using digital platforms.
- Knowledge of relevant financial regulations to carry out financial transactions and supporting budget/spending plans.
- Understand challenges faced by Children’s service, local Government and the wider public sector locally and nationally.
