About Motorway

Motorway is the UK's largest online car-selling platform. We connect private sellers directly with over 8,000 dealers nationwide. Our online platform helps sellers achieve great prices for their cars while giving dealers fast, reliable access to the stock they want for their dealerships. Founded in 2017, our award-winning, technology-led approach has redefined the experience of selling a car. Motorway is backed by some of the world’s leading technology investors, having raised £143 million in Series C funding.

This is a unique opportunity to join a fast-growing scale-up at a crucial phase of growth and help change an industry for the better.

We're hiring a Team Leader for our Business Development Team in Brighton

This is a rare opportunity to join a growing department with a strong track record and during an exciting period where we're now ready to raise the bar with the impact of this position.

You will be responsible for leading a team of Business Development Agents, supporting daily performance and driving continuous improvement through effective coaching, motivation and hands-on management. We're looking for someone confident, energetic and accountable. Someone who knows how to get the best out of a relationship-focused sales team and wants to drive the standard for what good looks like.

About the team

The Business Development Team is Motorway's dealer-facing engine. Each agent manages a portfolio of around 40 dealer accounts, speaking to every dealer at least once a week to support them, resolve issues and drive performance across bids, sales and the full suite of Motorway products. As Team Leader, you'll oversee this team of up to 8 agents, and be accountable for the daily rhythm, the results, and the development of the people delivering them.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

  • Bring energy and creativity to keep the team motivated and focused.

Coaching and development

  • Implement effective coaching by building skill, resilience and accountability across the team.
  • Deliver 1-2-1s, performance reviews and development plans that have real impact.
  • Identify what's working and what isn't, and implement strategies against what you observe.

Data and insight

  • Use data and dashboards to manage the team, identify trends, address underperformance and celebrate wins.
  • Monitor dealer portfolio health across your team and escalate where needed.
  • Feed insight upward to support broader commercial decisions.

Stakeholder and cross-functional work

What we're looking for

  • Proven people management experience in a sales or account management environment.

  • Comfortable using data to drive decisions and performance conversations.
  • High energy and the ability to maintain it - this is a busy, contact-heavy team.
  • Someone who leads by example - present, engaged and accountable.
  • Strong communication skills - clear, direct and effective with people across a range of seniority.
  • Experience in a dealer, automotive or marketplace environment is a bonus, not a requirement.
