Job title: Business Director

Reporting to: Business Partner

Role Purpose: You will be responsible for leading and directing account teams to achieve client deliverables and introduce new expertise to generate additional revenue, profitability, and relationship longevity. You will be directing and growing large-scale and complex accounts, whilst ensuring excellence in strategic and creative standards working in conjunction with the project leadership teams. Using your influencing and negotiation skills, you will build strong relationships with clients. You will partner with Project Leadership to ensure objectives and revenue targets are met.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop long-term client relationships built on trust, quality thinking, and effective creative solutions.
  • Provide strong account direction, seeking opportunities to develop and grow client accounts.
  • Lead and direct account teams to achieve client deliverables and introduce new expertise to generate additional revenue and profitability.
  • Ensure briefs, creative and strategy solutions address the client’s needs.
  • Show responsibility, respect, fairness, and honesty in all dealings.

Duties

  • Connect the facets of the client's business to generate impactful solutions to create long - term growth for both agency and client.
  • Be seen as an expert business partner and advisor to the client, proactively identify issues or opportunities and provide solutions.
  • Positively influence others as well as provide solutions when challenges arise.
  • In partnership with your strategic & creative partners, deliver best-in -class strategic & creative solutions that solve clients business challenges and if necessary challenge obstacles or limitations through strategic relationship.
  • Lead difficult conversations on budget challenges e.g. scope creep/ overspend.
  • In collaboration with the project leadership team, bring your financial expertise to lead decision making on long term-forecasting, as well as operational actions to improve revenue and margin.
  • Understand the Clients' unmet needs/ drivers and find the common ground /acceptable alternatives that balance agency and client's needs.
  • Create/ identify new opportunities for FutureBrand & McCann WorldGroup based on your understanding of the client's business.
  • Ensure your team has the capability and motivation to be on the forefront, ahead of the client in terms of Design & Strategy.
  • Have a deep understanding of all McCann WorldGroup offerings to drive innovation, expand on capabilities, and increase overall revenue.
  • Manage the development of each team member's work flow to ensure tactical success while identifying new opportunities for growth and development.
  • Organic revenue growth - Based on your intimate familiarity with clients business, identify organic growth opportunities through FB and MW broad offer.
  • New business revenue growth - Lead and deliver new client opportunities/ pitches.
  • Leverage FutureBrand Group/MW and IPG capabilities to optimize revenue potential.
  • In conjunction with the Creative and Strategy directors, lead a team that delivers compelling strategy, differentiated innovation and ground-breaking creative work to shape the long-term direction of clients’ brands.
  • Manage the performance and development the business leadership teams. Play an active role in attracting and retaining top talent to FutureBrand.
  • Travel to meet with clients as and when needed.

Skills and Competencies

  • Experience of running large, complex accounts involving all aspects of consumer/corporate and service branding (including innovation, brand creation, and packaging).
  • Business acumen, with the ability to fully understand all aspects of business operations, financial and resource management.
  • Proven Resilience: Remains calm under pressure; remains focused and optimistic; is persistent even with adversity and recovers easily from setbacks.
  • Proven leadership with internal teams and clients.
  • Effective conflict resolution skills. Ability to address situations in a positive and constructive manner.
  • Outstanding communication skills at all levels, (presentation, written, verbal).
  • Effective negotiator, influencer, and communicator.
  • Strong team player and have a key role in supporting others.
  • Positive and can-do attitude and problem solver.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, whilst remaining objective and retaining a positive approach.
