Business Director / Pod Lead
Function: Client Leadership | Growth Strategy | Commercial Ownership
Responsibility: Own the commercial and strategic relationship for a pod of DTC e-commerce client accounts. You'll lead the client agenda, translate paid media performance into growth strategy, and lead the team that delivers it.
Reports to: Director of Growth
Location: Hybrid/flexible, with a London head office and working-from-home options
Compensation: £70,000 – £85,000, plus performance bonus
About Us
Founded in 2019 by Olly Hudson and Joe Marston, Soar With Us has rapidly grown into one of the UK's premier advertising agencies for e-commerce brands. Our team manages significant Meta and TikTok ad spend for DTC brands spanning supplements, skincare, fashion, and home care.
You'll work alongside high-performing growth marketers, creative strategists and paid media specialists, inside a structure built for the people who carry the client relationship.
We're in the middle of a structural change to how we deliver. Pods are replacing project teams, and account leadership is becoming a commercial discipline. The Business Director is the role that brings that standard to life inside the pod.
The Role
You're the commercial and strategic lead for your pod. You're the person who connects what's happening in a client's paid media to what's happening in their business. When a founder wants a point of view rather than a status update, you're the one they call.
You should be able to sit down with a founder and talk credibly about their P&L, their funnel and their growth ceiling. Then you should be able to tell them what to do about it.
This role suits someone who has come up through paid media or growth strategy, ideally paid social and/or paid search, and now wants to own the client relationship and the commercial number rather than just the channel. Your day-to-day is leadership: the P&L, the relationship and the team.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
What You'll Do
- Set the client agenda. Lead QBRs and strategic conversations. You don't just facilitate them.
- Challenge founders constructively when the data says they're heading the wrong way.
- Make the difficult calls on priorities, direction and where investment goes across your accounts.
- Hold the specialist teams to account. Get the right information out of paid, creative and analytics, and make sure the work meets the bar.
- Find the problem first. Spot the performance dip, the missed opportunity or the risk to the account, and come to the client with a plan, not an apology.
What you'll own
- The commercial performance of your pod, including MRR target, retention and multi-service adoption
- The strategic relationship on your top-tier (Gold) accounts, including QBRs and commercial reviews
- Turning paid media performance into a clear growth narrative that clients trust and act on
- Spotting expansion and growth opportunities and turning them into a commercial plan
- The difficult conversations about fee changes, scope and performance accountability, handled so the relationship comes out stronger
- Leading, coaching and developing your account team, and quality-checking their output against the agency playbook
- Operational excellence across the pod. Work within our delivery operations, influence and improve them, and make sure the operation behind each account supports profitable growth.
What you'll bring (required)
- DTC/ecommerce growth experience. You've worked on e-commerce brands and understand what really drives their growth, including unit economics, acquisition, retention and margin.
- A paid media or growth strategy background. You understand what drives performance, not just how to report on it. You don't need to be in-platform today, but you should be able to interpret the data and turn it into strategy.
- Commercial ownership. You've been measured on a number, such as P&L, revenue or retention, and you've owned it.
- Team leadership. You've line-managed and developed a team, and you've held them to a high standard.
- Presence. You're comfortable as the senior agency voice in front of founders and client leadership. You can command a room, structure an argument clearly and hold your ground.
- Difficult conversations. You've had a tough commercial conversation with a client and the relationship survived it.
