Summary
The Business Engagement and Grants Officer is instrumental in fostering the vitality, resilience, and sustainable growth of Elmbridge's local economy. This role involves close collaboration with independent businesses, SMEs, Business Improvement Districts (BIDs), chambers of commerce, traders' associations, and other stakeholders to enhance the prosperity of town and village centers across the borough.
Responsibilities
- Actively engage with independent businesses and SMEs through regular visits to Elmbridge's town and village centers.
- Establish and nurture strong relationships with business owners, traders, BIDs, chambers of commerce, business associations, and other local stakeholders.
- Serve as the primary contact for businesses seeking information, support, and grant funding.
- Provide guidance and direct businesses to relevant Council services, including Planning, Licensing, Environmental Health, Waste Management, Business Rates, and Property Services.
- Represent the Council at business meetings, networking events, workshops, stakeholder forums, and town-centre initiatives.
- Collaborate with internal departments to deliver coordinated support for businesses.

Requirements:
- Experience in business engagement, grants administration, customer-facing business support, or economic development activities.
- Proficiency in managing administrative processes, documentation, databases, financial records, or grant-related information.
- Proven ability to work with multiple stakeholders and build productive professional relationships.
- Strong skills in prioritising workloads and managing multiple tasks within deadlines.
- A-Level education or equivalent relevant professional experience.
- Training, qualification, or demonstrable experience in business support, economic development, customer engagement, project coordination, or administration.

Additional Information
- Working hours: 36 hours per week
- Location: High Street, Esher, Surrey, KT10 9SD, United Kingdom
- Interviews will be conducted in person at the Elmbridge Civic Centre, High Street, Esher, Surrey, KT10 9SD
- Driving license required
- Work pattern: Minimum 2 days a week in the office with flexibility to work in the office as required
