Job Introduction

Business Engagement Officer

Grade Band 8

Hours – 37 hours per week (flexitime scheme in operation)

Based at Britannia House, Bradford City Centre and may be asked to work in other locations for service needs/requirements

The Code of Practice on the English language requirement for public sector workers, Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 requires that Councils ensure that all candidates applying for customer facing posts must be assessed in order to establish their fluency in English.

SkillsHouse

SkillsHouse is Bradford’s education and skills partnership gateway for business engagement, responsible for triaging enquiries, identifying potential new customers and managing relationships to support businesses to understand their challenges and introduce them to partnership-based solutions and products to support them grow, creating new opportunities for education and training providers, in turn creating new opportunities for students and employers.

SkillsHouse is a creative and constructive partnership of Bradford Council, and the University of Bradford, FE partners, Community partners, and the West Yorkshire Combined Authority working together to progress the design and implementation of an all-age careers and employment service. This exciting opportunity will be at the heart of achieving our ambition of building a more inclusive, sustainable and productive economy in Bradford.

The role

SkillsHouse looks to address the skill gaps in the local labour market as well as to ultimately improve underlying employment and economic outcomes for Bradford residents and employers. We’re looking for someone who can build great working relationships with employers and turn their workforce challenges into opportunities.

You’ll manage your own portfolio of employers, build trusted relationships and work across the SkillsHouse partnership network to make sure businesses can access the right recruitment, training and workforce support.

You Will Be Someone Who Enjoys:

  • Meeting and building relationships with businesses
  • Finding creative solutions to recruitment challenges
  • Creating jobs, apprenticeships, internships and work experience opportunities
  • Helping employers recruit more inclusively
  • Connecting businesses with the right training and specialist support
  • Developing knowledge of different industries and labour market trends
  • Bringing organisations together to make things happen
  • Creating opportunities for young people and adults who may face barriers to employment

You’ll need to be organised too, ensuring accurate records are inputted into our CRM to ensure we are tracking employer relationships, referrals, records while delivering a consistently high-quality service.
