Business Generation Director

Legal & Professional Services | East Midlands, South Midlands & Home Counties

A highly regarded and ambitious law firm is seeking an experienced Business Generation Director to help drive the next phase of its growth strategy.

This is a rare opportunity to join a successful, entrepreneurial firm with a strong reputation, established client relationships and genuine growth ambitions. Working closely with the Managing Partner and senior leadership team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping commercial strategy whilst leading business development activity across key target markets.

This is not a traditional strategic business development position. The firm is looking for a commercially focused leader who enjoys being in the market, building relationships, creating opportunities and ensuring that strategy translates into measurable revenue growth.

The successful candidate will combine strategic thinking with hands-on execution and have the credibility to operate confidently with both senior partners and clients.

The Opportunity

You will take ownership of developing and embedding a focused sales and client development strategy, helping the firm identify where it can achieve the greatest commercial impact. Alongside this, you will provide leadership, challenge and accountability around business development activity, ensuring opportunities are progressed effectively and translated into tangible outcomes.

A key element of the role will involve building and maintaining relationships with senior decision-makers, key introducers and strategic clients across a variety of sectors, including manufacturing, logistics and technology.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Business Development

  • Develop and implement a clear and practical growth strategy aligned to the firm's priorities.
  • Identify and target key clients, sectors and market opportunities.
  • Drive cross-selling initiatives across practice areas.
  • Analyse market opportunities and conversion performance to maximise return on business development investment.
  • Ensure business development activity remains focused on opportunities with the highest growth potential.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
