Business Improvement Coordinator
An established manufacturing business based in Plymouth is looking for a Business Improvement Coordinator to join its team and play a key role in the continued implementation and optimisation of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
This is a hands-on position working across the business, particularly with Production, Planning, Purchasing, Warehouse, Sales Administration, and Finance.
The initial focus will be on improving the processes and data that feed into the finance function – ensuring Business Central is being used correctly, improving stock control, cleansing and aligning data, and helping departments adopt more consistent and efficient ways of working.
Once key operational and system improvements have been implemented, there is an opportunity for the position to develop into a more finance-focused role.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the continued implementation, adoption, and improvement of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central across the business.
- Act as a key internal point of contact for Business Central, supporting users and identifying opportunities to improve how the system is used.
- Work across Production, Planning, Purchasing, Warehouse, Sales Administration, and Finance to improve processes and information flow.
- Review existing processes and identify inefficiencies, duplication, bottlenecks, and unnecessary manual work.
- Help reduce reliance on spreadsheets and duplicate data entry through better use of Business Central and improved processes.
- Improve the accuracy and consistency of master data within Business Central, including items, customers, and vendors.
- Support improvements to stock counting, stock accuracy, and inventory control.
- Cleanse and reconcile data from manufacturing/CAD systems and ensure information is correctly aligned with Business Central.
- Monitor the quality, accuracy, and completeness of operational and transactional data.
- Map and document business processes and introduce more consistent working practices.
- Develop and maintain SOPs, work instructions, process guides, and training materials.
- Support and coordinate business improvement projects, including testing and implementation of system/process changes.
- Maintain improvement registers, action plans, and project trackers.
- Produce operational reports, dashboards, and KPIs to help management identify trends, exceptions, and areas for improvement.
- Carry out periodic reviews and audits of administrative and manufacturing processes.
- Support root-cause analysis and ensure agreed corrective actions are followed through.
- Provide training and guidance to employees on Business Central and improved processes.
- Support key financial and administrative controls, including producing a weekly ERP-based sales report.
- Help ensure sales orders are correctly shipped, invoiced, and receipted and purchase orders are appropriately receipted, invoiced, and paid.
- Work closely with management and the company's Accountant to improve the quality of information flowing into the finance function.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement across the organisation.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What We're Looking For
This role would suit someone who enjoys getting into the detail of how a business operates rather than simply using Business Central to perform one specific function.
You could currently be working in Business Central support, ERP administration, finance/systems, business improvement, operations, or manufacturing systems and be looking for an opportunity where you can have a genuine impact on how a business operates.
You will need to be comfortable speaking with people across the organisation, understanding how they currently work, and helping introduce better processes and more effective use of Business Central.
Longer-Term Opportunity
The initial priority is Business Central, data quality, and operational process improvement. As these improvements become embedded within the business, the intention is for the successful individual to take on greater finance-related responsibility, making previous financial or accounting experience particularly beneficial.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with Business Central experience who wants broader ownership and the chance to develop their role as the business continues to improve its systems and processes.
