The Role
As a Business Improvement Manager, you’ll play a pivotal role within the Devonport Transformation function, helping to drive continuous improvement and business transformation across the organisation. Working with leaders, programme teams and stakeholders, you'll identify opportunities to improve performance, develop organisational capability and deliver sustainable change that supports strategic and operational objectives.
Day-to-day, you’ll have an exciting opportunity to lead a team of business improvement specialists while directly influencing major transformation initiatives. You'll combine leadership, coaching and delivery expertise to improve ways of working, solve complex business challenges and contribute to programmes that support the UK's defence sector. In return, you'll have the opportunity to broaden your leadership experience, develop transformation capabilities and make a lasting impact across the business.
- Leading, supporting and developing Business Improvement professionals across project management, change management, business analysis and Lean disciplines.
- Coaching and mentoring team members to build capability and support career development.
- Delivering business improvement and transformation initiatives that support strategic objectives.
- Collaborating with stakeholders to identify opportunities, solve business challenges and implement sustainable change.
- Managing resources, priorities and performance to ensure successful delivery of improvement activities.

This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with a minimum onsite presence of two days per week.
Essential Experience of the Business Improvement Manager
- Leading and developing professional teams, including performance and people management.
- Coaching and mentoring individuals to develop capability and support progression.
- Delivering business improvement, transformation or organisational change programmes.
- Building effective stakeholder relationships and influencing at all levels of an organisation.
- Managing resources, priorities and performance within a complex operational environment.
Qualifications for the Business Improvement Manager
Essential:
- Degree-level qualification in a relevant discipline, or equivalent career-based knowledge and experience.
- Demonstrable expertise within a recognised business improvement discipline.
Desirable:
- Association for Project Management qualification.
- Change Management Practitioner qualification.
- Business Analysis Practitioner qualification.
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt.
- Leadership qualification or equivalent leadership development.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be a sole UK National who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
