The role
As a Business Improvement Specialist, you'll play a key role in supporting the Devonport Transformation Programme, helping to drive meaningful and sustainable improvements across one of the UK's most important engineering and defence environments. This is an exciting opportunity to work on high-profile transformation initiatives that improve operational performance, enhance efficiency, and deliver long-term value.
Day-to-day, you’ll be required to:
- Support transformation and improvement projects that enhance business performance and operational effectiveness.
- Develop and implement change management plans that help teams successfully adopt new ways of working.
- Facilitate workshops, presentations, and stakeholder engagement activities to drive collaboration and innovation.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and helping to deliver sustainable solutions across the organisation.
- Analyse risks, removing roadblocks, and supporting project teams to achieve programme objectives and realise benefits
This is a full-time role working onsite, based at Devonport Royal Dockyard, Plymouth.

- Experience driving transformational change and business improvement initiatives that deliver measurable outcomes.
- Strong knowledge of business improvement, project delivery, change management, business analysis, or continuous improvement methodologies.
- Proven ability to analyse complex problems, develop practical solutions, and support successful project delivery.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, and Visio.
Qualifications for the Business Improvement Specialist
Essential
- Degree qualified in a relevant subject, or equivalent professional experience.
- Commitment to developing towards Practitioner-level qualification in a business improvement discipline.
Desirable
- Association for Project Management qualification or equivalent.
- APMG Change Management Foundation or Practitioner qualification

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
