Role Overview
An established UK manufacturing business has years of useful data sitting in its systems, but it has never had a dedicated BI Analyst, and parts of its sales and finance teams are making decisions without clear sight of their own numbers.
Individual teams have tried building their own dashboards in the meantime and they haven’t worked well, so this role has been created to put a proper reporting suite in place in Power BI. With no BI function in place yet, the reports, data models and standards the business ends up using will be the ones you build.
Responsibilities
- The groundwork has been done for you, as the priorities have already been scoped, so you can start building in your first few weeks.
- You’ll also have backing from an established BI team elsewhere in the group’s European business when you need data platform support.
- You’ve built Power BI dashboards and reports that people use day to day, so you can deliver early for sales and finance and see the difference it makes to how they run things.
- You’re strong in SQL and data modelling, which means you’ll design the semantic models and datasets the whole UK reporting suite sits on.
- You’re comfortable getting to know older on-premise systems, and you’ll be the person who turns their data into a single source of truth for the first time.
- Any Microsoft Fabric experience you have will get put to use, and the European BI team can help where it’s newer to you, so it’s a good place to build on it.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
