Business Intelligence Analyst (Finance & Business Performance)

Location: Hybrid Working (3 days per week office-based, 2 days remote)
Department: Finance
Employment Type: Full-Time

Role Purpose

We are seeking a commercially minded Business Intelligence (BI) Analyst to support data-driven decision-making across the organisation. This role will be responsible for developing dashboards and reporting solutions, maintaining data visualisation tools, analysing business performance, and providing insights to support operational and financial objectives.

The successful candidate will work closely with stakeholders across multiple functions, particularly Finance, to deliver meaningful reporting, performance analytics, and forecasting support that enables informed business decisions.

Key Responsibilities

Business Intelligence & Reporting

  • Design, build and maintain interactive dashboards, reports and scorecards using tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar BI platforms.
  • Develop automated reporting solutions to improve efficiency and reduce manual reporting requirements.
  • Create and maintain key performance indicator (KPI) frameworks to monitor business performance.
  • Analyse large datasets to identify trends, risks, opportunities and areas for improvement.
  • Ensure the accuracy, reliability and integrity of reporting data.
  • Translate complex data into clear and actionable insights for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Maintain documentation for reporting processes, data sources and dashboard development.

Financial Analytics Support

  • Partner with the Finance team to provide reporting and analysis supporting budgeting, forecasting and financial planning activities.
  • Develop finance dashboards tracking revenue, costs, profitability and operational performance.
  • Support month-end and periodic reporting cycles through data analysis and reporting preparation.
  • Assist in identifying opportunities for cost optimisation and operational efficiencies through data-driven analysis.
  • Analyse financial and commercial data to support business cases and strategic initiatives.
  • Support the development of financial models and forecasting tools where required.

Essential Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in a Business Intelligence Analyst, Data Analyst or similar analytical role.
  • Strong experience using data visualisation and reporting tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Qlik or equivalent.
  • Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables, Power Query and complex formulas.
  • Experience working with SQL and relational databases.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Experience building dashboards, KPI reporting and business performance tracking.
  • Ability to communicate technical findings to a non-technical audience.
  • Experience supporting or partnering with Finance teams.
  • Strong numerical and financial analysis skills.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Business Analytics, Data Science, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Relevant BI certifications (e.g. Microsoft Power BI, Tableau).
