As we continue to grow, we're looking for a talented Business Intelligence Specialist to join our Business Intelligence team. This is an exciting opportunity for a data-driven professional who is passionate about transforming complex information into meaningful insights through world-class reporting and visualisation solutions.
The Opportunity
As a Business Intelligence Specialist, you will design, develop and optimise Power BI reporting solutions that enable business leaders to make informed decisions with confidence. Working at the intersection of data, technology, design and business strategy, you'll create trusted dashboards, semantic models and reporting assets that support key stakeholders across The Ardonagh Group.
You will play a key role in shaping how data is consumed across the organisation while working with modern Microsoft technologies, including Power BI and Microsoft Fabric.
What You'll Be Doing
Reporting & Dashboard Development
- Design and develop intuitive, visually engaging, high-performing Power BI dashboards and reports.
- Translate business requirements, KPIs and stakeholder needs into impactful reporting solutions.
- Create drill-through experiences, interactive visuals, filters and navigation features that enhance user experience.
- Partner with UX/UI colleagues to apply established branding, design standards and best practices.
Data Modelling & Analytics
- Design, maintain and optimise Power BI semantic models.
- Develop robust DAX measures and calculations using industry best practices.
- Ensure reporting solutions are accurate, scalable and easy to maintain.
- Analyse and improve dashboard performance, load times and model efficiency.

Microsoft Fabric & Governance
- Work within Microsoft Fabric and Power BI Service environments, supporting workspaces, datasets, deployments and refresh processes.
- Implement security controls including workspace permissions, audience management and Row-Level Security (RLS).
- Support controlled deployment and governance practices across reporting environments.
Documentation & Support
- Produce clear documentation covering dashboards, semantic models, data sources and business logic.
- Support UAT processes, change requests and post-implementation enhancements.
- Monitor reporting operations, refresh schedules and user access requests.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the Analytics Lab.
About You
You'll be a technically strong BI professional with a passion for delivering solutions that create real business value. You'll be comfortable working with multiple stakeholders, translating complex requirements into intuitive reporting experiences and balancing project delivery with ongoing support activities.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Proven experience developing and supporting Power BI solutions in a commercial environment.
- Strong expertise in:
- Power BI Desktop
- Power BI Service
- DAX
- Power Query
- T-SQL
- Semantic data modelling
- Dashboard performance optimisation
- Advanced T-SQL development experience, including:
- CTEs
- Window functions
- Temporary tables
- Table-valued functions
- Complex query design and optimisation
- Stored procedures and SQL views
- Experience translating business requirements into scalable BI and reporting solutions.
- Strong understanding of dimensional modelling, reporting layers and data platform concepts.
- Experience managing stakeholder relationships and competing priorities.
Desirable
- Experience working with Microsoft Fabric.
- Knowledge of Fabric Data Factory pipelines and Spark notebooks.
- Understanding of data ingestion, transformation and orchestration processes.
- Exposure to metadata-driven ETL frameworks and reusable data platform architectures.
- Experience within insurance, financial services or a data analytics function.
