Business Intelligence Developer
We are recruiting a Business Intelligence Developer to join our Business Intelligence Team on a fixed-term basis (5 years) to support the Trust's Electronic Patient Record (EPR) programme, with phase 1 going live in May 2027.
As EPR is implemented, some of the Trust's existing reporting will remain unchanged, some will draw on a mix of existing sources and the new EPR data repository (hosted on Google Cloud Platform), and some will be built solely from EPR data. This role will lead on reviewing our existing reporting suite from a business and reporting-design perspective, working directly with report area subject matter experts in clinical and operational teams to confirm business rules and agree reporting requirements. You'll help decide what should be retained, updated, consolidated or decommissioned as part of the transition, and build dashboards and reporting solutions from the Trust's data warehouse and the EPR data repository that are consistent, well-defined and easy to maintain.
We're looking for someone with strong SQL and Power BI skills, good business analysis skills to engage stakeholders and translate their needs into clear reporting specifications, and ideally NHS or large complex organisation experience.

Responsibilities
- Carry out a systematic review of existing reports and dashboards, working with report area subject matter experts in clinical and operational teams to determine what should be retained, updated to incorporate EPR data, consolidated, or decommissioned as part of the transition to EPR.
- Liaise directly with clinical and operational stakeholders to confirm business rules and agree reporting requirements, ensuring reporting solutions meet internal and external reporting needs.
- Develop, design and deliver dashboards and reporting solutions from the Trust's data warehouse and the EPR data repository, evolving the reporting estate into one that is consistent in its measures and definitions and straightforward to maintain.
- Build and maintain Power BI reports and dashboards, applying best practice in data modelling, DAX and visual design to deliver intuitive, self-service reporting.
- Document business rules and report specifications agreed with SMEs, ensuring sign-off is captured and traceable, and maintain a data dictionary/metadata catalogue to reduce duplicate reporting definitions.
- Support the development of the wider BI team's knowledge and technical skills through documentation and knowledge-sharing.
- Present reporting solutions and analytical outputs to a range of stakeholders across clinical, operational and corporate functions, clearly articulating data, methodology and insights.
