The Company
This organisation operates at a national scale and uses data, insight, and analytics to support strategic decision-making and stakeholder engagement. Their Data & Analytics function is investing heavily in modern data practices, self-service reporting, and emerging AI-driven technologies.
You'll join a collaborative team of data professionals including Data Engineers, Analysts, and Business Analysis specialists, working on projects that combine technical excellence with real-world impact.
The Role
As BI Lead, you will take ownership of the organisation's business intelligence and reporting capability during a key period of change. The role is heavily focused on Power BI, data modelling, stakeholder engagement, and the optimisation of existing reporting solutions.

Key responsibilities include:
- Enhancing and maintaining existing Power BI dashboards and reporting solutions
- Developing and supporting semantic models and data layers that underpin reporting
- Translating business requirements into scalable reporting and data models
- Working closely with stakeholders to understand reporting needs and drive continuous improvement
- Writing and optimising DAX and SQL to support reporting and analytics
- Ensuring reporting outputs are accurate, reliable, and aligned with data governance standards
- Supporting external-facing reporting products and self-service analytics capability
- Contributing to Agile delivery processes, sprint planning, and roadmap activities
- Maintaining documentation and promoting reporting best practice across the business
You'll also have the opportunity to contribute to innovative projects involving data products, AI-assisted analytics, and modern cloud data platforms.

You will bring strong commercial experience in:

- Power BI development across both front-end reporting and back-end modelling
- Data modelling and semantic layer design
- SQL for data querying and transformation
- DAX development and performance optimisation
- Stakeholder engagement and requirements gathering
- Communicating technical concepts to non-technical audiences
- Designing scalable reporting solutions using best-practice methodologies such as Kimball, Star Schema, or Medallion Architecture
- Azure DevOps or CI/CD processes
- Azure Databricks
- Databricks Genie or AI-assisted analytics tools
- Microsoft Fabric
- Agile delivery environments and sprint-based working
