About the Team & Role
Are you passionate about turning complex data into clear insights that improve public services?
Join Gloucestershire County Council’s Integrated Transport Unit, supporting services including public transport, school transport, concessionary fares, and procurement. As our Business Intelligence Officer, you’ll be the main point of contact for the Unit’s data and reporting requirements. You’ll work with council teams and external partners to ensure information is accurate, accessible, and used effectively.
You’ll build and improve dashboards, monitor key performance indicators, and produce reports and visualizations that support operational and strategic decisions. You’ll translate complex findings for audiences including senior managers and elected members, while contributing analytical insight to service reviews, procurement, and continuous improvement. You’ll also help establish consistent processes for collecting, validating, managing, and archiving data.
About You
You’ll have experience in data analytics, business intelligence, performance, or reporting, with the ability to collect, validate, and interpret datasets. You’ll be confident creating dashboards and automated reports using tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Excel. Knowledge of GIS, databases, or statistical methods would also be valuable.
You can explain complex information clearly to technical and non-technical audiences, work independently, and manage competing deadlines. You’ll understand good data-management practice and relevant data-protection requirements, including GDPR. You’ll hold a relevant qualification or have equivalent relevant experience, together with evidence of continuing professional development.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
Start with a chat, not a search bar
Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
