Business Intelligence Summer Internship Programme

Turn data into insight. Help shape decisions across a global industry.

Looking for more than just work experience? If you're curious about trends and financial markets and interested in how this data can influence business decisions, then this could be the perfect way to spend your summer. Join Howden Re's Business Intelligence team and discover how data is transformed into insights that help businesses navigate the global reinsurance market.

You'll gain hands-on experience analysing real market data, exploring global industry trends, and contributing to reports and tools used by colleagues and clients around the world. Apply if you're naturally curious, analytical, and enjoy solving problems.

The 10-week programme is designed to give you meaningful exposure to the world of reinsurance, while helping you develop the knowledge, professional skills, and confidence to kick start your career.

Better still, our programme offers a direct pathway into our Autumn 2028 graduate roles, subject to business needs and individual performance.

What you'll be doing?

You will begin with a structured induction before joining the Business Intelligence team to work alongside experienced specialists on real client projects. During the programme, you'll:

  • Learn how to analyse financial and market data to identify trends shaping the global insurance and reinsurance market.
  • Research annual reports and other trusted sources to support business analysis.
  • Help maintain and update Nova, our market insights platform.
  • Validate outputs from automation and AI tools by checking accuracy and identifying anomalies.
  • Create charts, visualisations, and supporting evidence for market reports.
  • Contribute to analytical projects that help colleagues and clients make informed decisions.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
