Lecturer – Business
Location: Bedford College
Salary: Salary is between £33,048 and £38,169 per annum DOE and Qualifications
Expires: 12/10/2026 23:59
Hours/Weeks: 37hrs per week/52 Weeks
Contract Type: Permanent

About The Role
We are currently seeking a Lecturer to join the Business Department at The Bedford College Group.
As a Lecturer, you play an important role in the success of our students through:
- High-Quality Teaching & Student Support
- Deliver engaging, inclusive teaching that meets individual learner needs, provides effective tutorials and pastoral support, and helps students achieve their full potential.
- Assessment, Progress Tracking & Achievement
- Assess and verify student work to awarding body standards, monitor progress and performance, maintain accurate records, and ensure learners meet targets and deadlines.
- Curriculum Development & Innovation
- Develop and implement innovative learning materials, contribute to curriculum design and new programmes, and collaborate with colleagues to enhance teaching and learning practices.
- Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Support quality improvement processes, course reviews, student feedback activities, safeguarding responsibilities, and ensure learning environments meet health, safety, and diversity requirements.
- Leadership, Collaboration & Professional Development
- Coordinate the work of teaching and support staff, participate in course team activities, mentor new teaching colleagues, interview prospective students, and maintain up-to-date subject expertise.
- Qualifications & Professional Training
- CIPD qualified (or equivalent), degree-level business qualification, GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent), with teaching, safeguarding, and equality & diversity training.
- Teaching, Industry Knowledge & Experience
- Proven business sector experience combined with teaching expertise, assessment and quality assurance experience, strong record keeping, data monitoring, deadline management, and commitment to learner achievement.
- Student-Centred & Inclusive Practice
- Demonstrates the ability to meet diverse learner needs, promote equality, create safe and compliant learning environments, and work effectively with individuals from a wide range of backgrounds.
- Communication, Administration & Quality Improvement
- Strong communication and organisational skills, capable of developing learning resources, completing administrative tasks accurately, implementing quality processes, and contributing positively to team success.
- Safeguarding, Professionalism & Flexibility
- Committed to safeguarding children and vulnerable adults, maintaining professional standards and boundaries, continuously developing skills, and adopting a flexible approach to working across multiple locations and schedules.

Bedford College has a number of sites across the town and surrounding areas, including:

- Hair and beauty salon on the High Street
- Advanced automotive centre on Brunel Road
- Gas and technology plumbing centre in Kempston

Terms and Conditions - Bedford College
