Business Liaison Officer
North Notts BID is currently looking for an enthusiastic and conscientious individual to join the BID team as a Business Liaison Officer.
This post would be perfect for someone with a strong sales and/or customer relationship background who is passionate and committed to making a difference to the local area and the businesses that work in it. The post-holder will meet and interact with a wide and diverse variety of BID member in our towns, industrial and rural areas. Interactions will be face-to-face at their business premises, online or by phone to suit the needs of the business.
The primary purpose of the role is to:
- Proactively promote the projects, services and initiatives delivered by North Notts BID, ensuring that our BID members are aware of, and access the wide range of member benefits
- Deliver activities and initiatives through our business crime reduction partnership, giving people the confidence to live, work, visit, work, shop, eat and drink locally.
The post-holder will meet and interact with a wide and diverse range of BID member in our towns, industrial and rural areas. Interactions will be face-to-face at their business premises, online or by phone to suit the needs of the business.
The successful candidate will be confident and an excellent communicator who is passionate and committed to making a difference to the local area and the businesses that work in it.
Due to the nature of the role, the successful applicant must have a full driving license and be prepared to use their own vehicle to travel to our BID member businesses across the district. Travel expenses will be paid.
This is an interesting and exciting role, where no two days are ever the same. As a Business Liaison Officer, you will be the eyes and ears on the ground, and face of the BID.
Main responsibilities:
- To liaise with BID Members in their premises, by email or by phone to promote the many benefits available, ensuring that they get a return on their BID levy
- To develop and maintain excellent relationships with BID members, sharing relevant information and details of funding support available that may benefit their business
- Forge effective relations with local partners including Nottinghamshire Police and Bassetlaw District Council in the quest to support our businesses in the fight against business crime
- Oversee activities relating to the North Notts digital radio scheme, CCTV system, WalkSafe app and Night Angels to provide a clear line of communication between businesses and the relevant organisations
- Build relationships with local Police Officers, PSCO’s, Rough Sleeper Team, Community Safety Team, CCTV Operatives and security teams at local hospitality venues, stores and shopping centre
- Engage with BID members to collect data on crime trends and offer advice on how to report crime/incidents through the appropriate channels and in the most efficient way
- Attend and support PubWatch and ShopWatch meetings in Worksop and Retford
- Liaise with local partners through the appropriate forums to share amu concerns and issues that our BID members may have
- Arrange quarterly Business Crime Reduction Partnership and Nighttime Economy Partnership meetings, including sending invitations, setting relevant, topical agendas for discussion, and reporting and acting on any actions identified
- Liaise with the Digital Media & Marketing Lead to ensure that good news stories and offers are shared effectively through all social media channels, website and case studies
- To liaise with the Operations & Projects Manager to map out relevant routes when planning BID member visits
- Work closely with our hospitality industry to support them to achieve their Best Bar None Accreditation, ensuring that our venues serving alcohol do so safely
- To support with activities such as showcase events, meetings and business crime reduction initiatives as and when appropriate
- To ensure that any defective paving or street furniture, incidents of flyposting, fly tipping and graffiti are reported into the BID team to action with relevant partners
- To report any signs of low-level business crime, anti-social behaviour and beggars in the area to the Council, Police or other relevant authorities where necessary
- To log interactions, actions and plan future visits on Vicinity, the BIDs CRM system
- Any other duties commensurate with the level of the post as may over time become necessary.

- Educated to a minimum of GCSE equivalent or above
- Positive, enthusiastic self-starter
- Experience of building relationships with key stakeholders within the community
- Experience of handling challenging situations
- An understanding of the diversity and culture within the local area
- Able to showcase the benefits of the BID to ensure maximum BID member engagement and access to the services and benefits available
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- The ability to display tact, diplomacy with good negotiation skills
- Willingness to do walkabouts throughout the local towns and industrial areas
- Experience of working in a sales/customer relationship environment advantageous
- The post holder must possess a full, clean driving licence and have the use their own vehicle. Mileage costs will be covered.
