We are delighted to be partnering with the Greater London Authority (GLA) to source a number of Business Managers to join them on a permanent basis.
Role: Business Manager
Location: City Hall, E16 1ZE
Working arrangement: City Hall 2/3 days per week. This is non negotiable
Salary: starting salary is £52,305, plus employer pension contribution of 6.8% and 30 days annual leave
This is a unique opportunity to join the GLA within a newly forming Business Management and Performance function that sits at the heart of the organisation. The team will support directorates that deliver critical services to London and will play a key role in ensuring effective governance, business planning, performance management, financial oversight, stakeholder engagement, and preparation for political scrutiny.
These roles will work across a range of specialist areas including People, Facilities Management, Data & Digital, Executive Support, Finance, Procurement and Legal, ensuring priorities are coordinated and delivered consistently
The successful candidates will help establish new ways of working, improve processes, create consistency across teams and ensure that key deadlines, reporting requirements and governance activities are delivered effectively.

Key Responsibilities
- The mayors questions and data packs for the London Assembly, scrutinizing the data.
- Coordinate directorate-wide business management activities.
- Support budget planning, monitoring and financial reporting.
- Prepare information for London Assembly Committees and Budget & Performance Committees.
- Coordinate responses to Mayor's Questions (MQs) and other governance requests.
- Monitor and report on KPIs and performance measures.
- Work closely with HR, Finance, Procurement, Legal and other corporate functions.
- Improve business processes and implement consistent ways of working.
- Support audit preparation and ensure follow-up actions are tracked.
- Produce reports, briefings and management information for senior stakeholders.
- Develop strong stakeholder relationships across the organisation.
- Identify risks, resolve issues and ensure deadlines are met.
- Supporting business areas, People Function, Data and Digital, Facilities and Exec Support.
- Liaising with HRBP's and FBP's.
- Performance against published KPI's.
Key Skills & Experience
Essential
- Strong business management or business support experience.
- Experience operating within complex organisations.
- Excellent organisational and coordination skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and competing deadlines.
- Experience working with budgets, governance, performance reporting or business planning.
- Strong stakeholder management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Confidence working with senior leaders.
- Ability to build relationships and influence others.
- Resilient and able to perform under pressure.

Highly Desirable
- Public sector experience.
- Experience working within local government, central government, arm's-length bodies or similar organisations.
- Experience supporting politically sensitive environments.
- Knowledge of governance, scrutiny and committee processes.
- Experience managing or improving business processes and operating models.
