Business Manager, UK Distribution
Investment Manager | London (hybrid)
A growing and well-capitalised investment manager is hiring a Business Manager to work alongside its Head of UK Distribution. You will be a true partner in running the business, from commercial strategy through to day-to-day delivery. This is a build role, not a caretaker one.
The role
- Right hand to the Head of UK Distribution: keep the business organised and on track across priorities, processes, and follow-ups. Roll out new processes across the team and make sure they stick.
- Commercial performance: build the management information that tells the truth about pipeline, flows, revenue, sales productivity, and client profitability, then act on it.
- Governance and rhythm: run the leadership meeting cadence, quarterly business reviews, and senior management reporting. Set the agenda and drive the follow-through.
- Change and projects: lead the initiatives that don't sit neatly in one team, including CRM and data, the coverage model and distribution technology, plus strategic projects as they arise.
- Strategy: shape the multi-year plan, covering channel prioritisation, client segmentation, product-to-market fit, and where the next phase of net flows comes from.
- AI: identify where AI can make the sales team more effective, and lead by example in using it.
- Influence: be the connection point into Investments, Marketing, Product, Risk, and Finance. Much of this job is getting things done without owning the org chart.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
