Business Manager

TECHNOLOGY & ENGINEERING RECRUITMENT, SR2, LONDON.

Build the relationships. Lead the team. Own the opportunity.

Seven consultants. International markets. Individual commission. Team bonus override. A genuine opportunity to build something exceptional.

Some recruitment management roles are about building from scratch or maintaining what's already there. This isn't one of them.

We're looking for an outstanding recruitment leader to take ownership of an established team of seven consultants across specialist technology and engineering markets in the UK and US. Someone who can win high-value business, build trusted relationships with senior decision-makers and create the opportunities that help an entire team succeed.

You'll have the freedom to shape the commercial strategy, develop people and grow the business while continuing to bill and contribute personally either as a full 360 consultant or a client-facing BD person winning new logos that others can deliver on. Your rewards will reflect both sides of that contribution: individual commission on your own placements and a team bonus override linked to team performance and P&L targets.

This is a role for someone who still loves winning and wants to build something bigger than their own desk.

The opportunity

You’ll inherit a team of seven, from ambitious junior consultants to experienced senior recruiters, operating in specialist, business-critical markets:

  • AI, machine learning, robotics and autonomous systems
  • Embedded software, electronics and power electronics
  • Aerospace, defence and advanced engineering

You’ll build relationships with founders, CTOs, Engineering Directors and other senior leaders, personally deliver strategic hires and turn those connections into broader accounts, repeat business and opportunities for your team.

Build the business. Share in the success.

Your billings. Your commission.

Stay close to the market. Win and deliver high-value, senior and business-critical assignments, and earn individual commission on the business you personally deliver.

Your team. Your override.

Alongside your individual commission, benefit from a team bonus override linked to the performance of the consultants you lead. As you coach your people, grow their markets and create opportunities across the team, you share in that commercial success.

Your strategy. Your ownership.

Take genuine commercial and operational ownership of the team: its clients, market focus, revenue, profitability, performance and growth plans. You’ll have meaningful autonomy, backed by SR2’s infrastructure, credibility and senior leadership.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

The proposition: build your own billings, grow the team’s performance and increase your earning potential as the business succeeds.

Why this role stands out

A genuine player-manager opportunity

Your individual billing success should complement, not compete with, the team’s performance. We want a leader who sets the standard commercially and creates opportunities for others.

An established platform with room to grow

Seven consultants are already in place. You can focus on developing talent, improving performance, deepening accounts and building the next stage of the business rather than starting from zero.

High-value international markets

Work with innovative technology and engineering organisations across London, Europe and the US, including businesses operating at the forefront of AI, defence technology and autonomous systems.

A real voice in the direction of the business

Influence which markets to pursue, which clients to target, where to invest and how the team evolves. Work closely with experienced senior leaders and take on greater responsibility as the business grows.

What you’ll own

Strategic business development & personal billing

Build influential relationships with founders, CTOs, Engineering Directors and senior decision-makers.

Personally win and deliver high-value, senior-level recruitment assignments.

Turn strategic placements into repeat business, larger accounts and wider opportunities across functions and geographies.

Lead senior client conversations, negotiate commercial agreements and position SR2 as a long-term talent partner.

Team leadership & development

Lead, coach and inspire seven consultants with different levels of experience.

Help junior recruiters build confidence, capability and commercial judgement.

Challenge senior consultants to grow their markets, strengthen relationships and improve performance.

Set clear expectations and build a collaborative, accountable, high-performing culture.

Commercial strategy & growth

Own the team’s revenue, profitability and overall commercial performance.

Develop clear market strategies and sustainable pipelines of strategic client relationships.

Identify emerging technical markets and opportunities for expansion.

Shape the team’s future structure, capability and growth alongside SR2 leadership.

Who we’re looking for

A commercially ambitious recruitment leader with the instincts of a top biller and the mindset of a business builder. You’ll ideally bring:

  • A strong track record as a billing recruitment manager or senior player-manager.
  • Experience winning and delivering senior-level or high-value assignments.
  • Credibility with C-suite executives and senior functional leaders.
  • Evidence of turning individual client relationships into broader accounts and repeat business.
  • Proven ability to coach, develop and improve recruitment consultants.
  • Knowledge of specialist recruitment, ideally technology, engineering or related technical disciplines.
  • The judgement to balance personal billing, business development and team leadership.
  • Experience in US markets and scaling teams would be particularly valuable. You don’t need to know every technical discipline: what matters is your ability to understand complex markets, earn trust and spot commercial opportunity.

You’ll thrive here if…

  • You still love the thrill of winning business. You prefer influential, long-term client relationships to chasing transactional vacancies. You understand that one strategically important placement can unlock an entire account. You hold yourself and others to high standards, take pride in developing people and want autonomy with accountability.

What success looks like after 12 months

  • You’ve built meaningful relationships with senior decision-makers in our target markets.
  • You’re personally delivering high-value placements and strong individual revenue.
  • Those relationships are producing repeat business, new opportunities and increased team revenue.
  • Junior consultants are progressing, senior consultants are growing and team performance is consistent and growing.
  • You’ve built a clear commercial strategy and a sustainable platform for further growth in headcount.

Why SR2?

SR2 combines the infrastructure, credibility and support of an established recruitment business with the freedom and entrepreneurial mindset to make a genuine impact. We value commercial ambition, collaboration, accountability and people who take ownership.

You’ll work closely with experienced senior leaders, lead an established team and have the opportunity to shape a business with significant growth potential. High performance is recognised through earning potential, career progression and increasing responsibility.

Ready to build something bigger?

You may already be billing strongly, leading people and doing well. But perhaps you want more commercial freedom, more influence and a bigger platform for your ambition.

If you’re a successful recruitment leader who still loves winning business, wants to develop great people and is excited by building a genuinely high-performing team, we’d love to hear from you.

Bring your ambition. Bring your commercial edge. Bring your leadership.
