Business Manager – Wealth Management (SJP Experience)
Location: Central London – Hybrid working
Salary: £40,000 – £47,000 + Bonus, depending on experience
Contract: Permanent, full-time
The Opportunity
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Business Manager to join a successful and growing Wealth Management team, providing operational, technical and administrative support to a Senior Wealth Manager.
Previous experience within a St. James's Place (SJP) Partner Practice is essential.
This is a varied role covering new business, case management, client servicing, financial planning support, business reporting and team oversight. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring cases progress efficiently, clients receive a high level of service and the wider team operates effectively.
The role would suit someone currently working as a Business Manager, Senior Associate, Wealth Manager's Associate, Wealth Management Administrator or Paraplanner within an SJP Partner Practice.
Key Responsibilities
New Business & Case Management
- Manage and drive new business cases from submission through to completion.
- Monitor cases and proactively resolve delays or administrative issues.
- Liaise with SJP, clients and external providers to obtain outstanding information and progress cases.
- Coordinate with outsourced paraplanning partners where required.
- Review suitability letters and documentation prior to submission.
- Manage Defined Benefit/Final Salary pension cases and non-transfer proposals.
- Ensure cases are accurately recorded and progressed within required timescales.

Client Servicing
- Manage withdrawals, encashments and pension drawdown cases.
- Respond to client queries and ensure outstanding actions are followed up promptly.
- Coordinate annual client review meetings.
- Support the Senior Wealth Manager in maintaining strong client relationships and a high level of service.
Business Management & Reporting
- Prepare monthly business forecasts and projections.
- Monitor turnover and ensure business is recorded correctly.
- Maintain business trackers and monitor pipeline and issued business.
- Assist with analysis of business performance and costs.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes and team efficiency.
Financial Planning Support
- Provide paraplanning support where required across new investment, pension, protection and wider financial planning cases.
- Assist with investment transfer analysis and transfer proposals.
- Support with Inheritance Tax, EIS, VCT and protection cases.
- Prepare cash-flow models and assist with client review documentation.
Team & Business Development
- Support and train junior team members and Associates.
- Share best practice and provide day-to-day guidance where required.
- Assist with business development projects and analysis of the existing client bank.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, technology and operational efficiency.
- Work with internal and external partners to enhance service delivery.
About You
We are looking for an experienced Wealth Management professional with strong knowledge of SJP processes and the ability to manage cases effectively from submission through to completion.

Essential Experience
- Previous experience within an SJP Partner Practice.
- Strong financial services administration and case management experience.
- Good knowledge of pensions, investments, protection, drawdown and encashments.
- Experience with Defined Benefit/Final Salary pension cases.
- Working knowledge of paraplanning and financial planning processes.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Confident communicating with clients, advisers and external providers.
- Strong Excel skills and experience managing business trackers or reporting.
- A proactive approach with the ability to take ownership and resolve issues.
- Experience supporting or mentoring junior colleagues.
Desirable
- Level 4 Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning or working towards it.
- Previous paraplanning experience.
- Knowledge of FE Analytics and Voyant.
- Experience with cash-flow modelling.
- Business development, client-bank analysis or process improvement experience.
