The role
The Business Operations Assistant supports the smooth running of Opencast’s Newcastle HQ, ensuring the office provides a welcoming, efficient and professional environment for colleagues and visitors. The role balances front-of-house responsibilities with administrative support and contributes to wider initiatives that make our workplaces engaging and inclusive.
This is a 6-month fixed term contract.
Essential experience
You don't need to have demonstrated all the experience, but good computer skills are essential.
In your CV and interview, please show how you have:
- Acted as the first point of contact for visitors and callers, creating a positive and professional first impression.
- Supported the day-to-day running of the Newcastle HQ, ensuring the workplace is clean, organised and well-equipped.
- Carried out administrative tasks such as managing documents, coordinating suppliers, and supporting business operations processes.
- Assisted with the planning and delivery of events, including occasional evening cover.
- Contributed to wider initiatives including STEM workshops, work experience placements, and cross-team collaborations with Marketing and Internal Communications.
- Worked closely with the wider Business Operations team to deliver seamless workplace and operational support.

Salary
Salary range: £27,000 - £34,000
What we offer
A competitive package including a 7% employer pension contribution, share options, and a discretionary bonus. You’ll also benefit from 25 days’ holiday and access to 3 annual “life happens” days to support unexpected situations.

Where you’ll work
Due to the nature of this role, you'll primarily be based full time at our HQ in Newcastle upon Tyne, with occasional travel between our hub locations as part of the role. Applicants should be able to travel when needed to support business activities and team collaboration.
