About Innovate ADHD

We offer NHS ADHD services under the Right to Choose pathway. Our team is passionate, collaborative, and committed to making a genuine impact on the lives of people living with ADHD. We foster a supportive working environment where every team member is valued and encouraged to develop their skills.
As the organisation continues to grow, we are looking for a Business Operations Intern to support our commissioner billing, payment tracking, and wider day-to-day operational work.
The Role
This is a hands-on, data-focused operations role suited to someone who is organised, comfortable with numbers and highly attentive to detail.

Commissioner Billing Support
- Extract, organise and validate monthly billable activity across multiple NHS Commissioners.
- Prepare commissioner invoice supporting datasets and draft billing packs for review.
- Identify duplicate, cancelled, incomplete or potentially non-billable activity and escalate any exceptions.
- Maintain records of commissioner-specific billing requirements.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Payment Tracking and Reconciliation
- Maintain the invoice and payment tracker.
- Match payments received against outstanding invoices.
- Identify overdue, underpaid, disputed or unmatched payments.
Commissioner Reporting and Data Quality
- Support the preparation of monthly commissioner activity and performance reports.

Person Specification
We are looking for someone who enjoys making complex or messy information organised, accurate and easy to use. The ideal candidate will be comfortable completing detailed operational work while also remaining curious about why a process works in a particular way and how it could be improved. This is not a purely administrative internship. It is a hands-on role that requires accuracy, reliability, ownership and a willingness to work closely with operational and financial data.

Your very own career expert that helps elevate your application to the next level.
- Strong ownership and attention to detail.
- Good numerical and analytical ability.
- Able to organise multiple deadlines and maintain accurate trackers.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Able to handle confidential and sensitive information responsibly.
- Good judgement regarding when to escalate an issue rather than make assumptions.
Development and Progression
During the internship, you will be supported to progress from completing individual tasks to taking ownership of defined operational workflows. As your capability develops, you may also contribute to analytical work, automation testing, performance reporting and wider service-improvement projects.
We view this internship as a potential pathway into a longer-term career with Innovate ADHD. An intern who performs strongly, demonstrates consistent accuracy and reliability, and shows the ability to take increasing ownership may be considered for a full-time permanent position at the end of the internship, subject to organisational requirements and an available role.
