$121,095 - $136,286 + 12% Super
About The Role
Working closely with the Senior Business Partner, this role acts as the key conduit between the Finance, Rates and Investment branch and two of our most visible and community-focused portfolios: Business Economy and Activation, and Community and City Services.
You will lead the delivery of accurate and timely financial reporting, drive the preparation and ongoing management of budgets, and contribute meaningfully to business planning processes. Beyond reporting, you will partner with managers and budget owners to provide commercial insight, strengthen accountability, and embed best-practice financial management across the portfolios.
Operating within a genuine partnering model, this role builds trusted stakeholder relationships and deep business understanding — enabling more informed decisions, stronger financial stewardship, and better outcomes for the organisation and community.
This role will require you to
- Lead branch budgeting and forecasting processes, including development of robust business cases, budget contestability, and preparation of annual operating and capital budgets.
- Monitor and report on financial performance, providing insightful analysis, variance reporting and high-level advice to support informed decision-making.
- Partner with managers to strengthen financial planning, performance measurement, benchmarking and continuous process improvement.
- Ensure strong financial governance, compliance and risk controls, with timely and accurate corporate and management reporting.
- Contribute to strategic business planning, organisational improvement initiatives and finance projects, enhancing management accounting practices and service delivery.

About You
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting or related discipline and significant experience. CPA/CA qualified is desirable
- Demonstrated experience in budgeting, financial analysis and financial reporting with the ability to exemplify financial management best practice.
- Proven skills and experience in developing and maintaining effective partnerships and relationships with key stakeholders
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication (written and oral) skills, particularly in the provision of professional financial advice and support to managers and staff with limited financial literacy
- Contemporary understanding of and experience working in the areas of business planning, performance measurement and improvement, risk management and benchmarking.
- Sound analytical and conceptual thinking capability and ability to make recommendations to resolve issues.
- Advanced computer proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Financial Systems, with experience in PowerBI desirable but not essential.
- Commitment and proven ability to develop and implement quality service improvement processes, with a particular focus on developing excellent customer service.
