Key Responsibilities
This is a hands-on role with lead responsibility and accountability for the production and maintenance of the 30-year Group Business Plan, including what-if scenario modelling, sensitivity analysis, and stress testing. The postholder will also be responsible for submitting key regulatory returns to the Regulator of Social Housing (RSH) within strict deadlines, including the annual SDR, FFR, and FVA returns, as well as completing the Quarterly Finance & Risk Survey.
The role is responsible for short and long-term cash flow monitoring and forecasting, ensuring the organization maintains a clear understanding of its financial position and future funding requirements. The postholder will also report on compliance with loan covenants and the Treasury Management Policy, including adherence to the Golden Rules.
A key aspect of the role is maintaining the asset security register for the Group’s homes and ensuring the value of the investment portfolio is reported accurately and in a timely manner. In addition, the postholder will maintain and provide quarterly reporting on the Assets & Liabilities Register. The role also contributes to the organization’s internal management information reporting framework and supports the preparation of the annual financial statements.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
Essential
- The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant with full membership of ACA, ACCA, or CIMA and will have a minimum of five years’ post-qualification experience.
- Significant experience in developing long-term business plans, including the use of key assumptions and variables, what-if scenario modelling, stress testing, and variance analysis.
- Experience of extracting and manipulating data from management accounts and other financial records to build financial models and interpret results using techniques such as ratio analysis, trend analysis, and margin analysis.
- Experience within the social housing sector is essential, including the preparation and submission of regulatory returns such as the FFR and QFRS through NROSH+.
- Advanced Excel skills, including VLOOKUPs and pivot tables, and will be comfortable working with large and complex datasets to provide meaningful information to management.
- The ability to identify, anticipate, and manage business risks, together with recommending appropriate mitigation measures.
- Strong communication and reporting skills are essential, including the ability to prepare concise business reports, dashboards, and graphical outputs for Management, Committees, and Board members on complex financial and treasury matters, making information accessible to non-financial audiences.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint is required.

Desirable
- Experience of using BRIXX business planning software would be advantageous.
- Candidates with experience of budget preparation, management accounting reporting, and business partnering will be viewed favourably.
- Experience of cash flow forecasting and cash flow management is desirable, together with knowledge of treasury management, capital markets, and loans, including the calculation and reporting of funding covenant measures such as EBITDA, gearing, and interest cover.
- Experience of working with valuers to produce timely valuations of homes for asset security compliance purposes would also be beneficial.
