Our client is seeking an experienced Business Rates Specialist to join its team on an interim basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled revenues professional to play a key role in the administration, collection, recovery, and management of non-domestic rates. You'll support service delivery, provide technical expertise, and help ensure compliance with relevant legislation and regulatory requirements.
πΉ Key Responsibilities
- Manage business rates accounts, billing, collection, and recovery activities
- Provide technical expertise on complex business rates cases
- Support the administration of reliefs, exemptions, discounts, and grants
- Monitor performance and assist with maintaining service standards
- Handle escalated enquiries from businesses, agents, and stakeholders
- Support enforcement and recovery processes in line with legislation and policy
- Work collaboratively with internal teams and external partners
- Assist with annual billing activities and statutory returns
- Maintain accurate records and ensure data quality
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the service

πΉ Essential Experience
- Previous experience working within a Business Rates or Revenues environment
- Strong knowledge of business rates legislation and administration
- Experience managing billing, collection, and recovery processes
- Experience handling complex business rates enquiries and cases
- Understanding of recovery and enforcement procedures
- Ability to interpret and apply relevant legislation and policies
- Experience using revenues systems and performance management tools
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to manage a varied workload and meet deadlines
